While using this transformation pack I have yet to come across even one problem. The problem most people seemedto be having was reomving the sidebar as this caused an error message to turn up, well it didn't happen for me! Overall it's brilliant!

Sorry. Too much memory eaten up the the desktop sidebar which incidentally, doesn't always clean up memory well when it exits. The glass transparency program which seems to have been borrowed from another software firm is not well intergrated with the package and can create some real problems for some graphics configurations in Nvidia. We won't even discuss the uninstallation routine, since I deleted this version and a prior one and neither have completely left the relevant machines. Ghost in the machine only pleases me when connected with the Police. The icons and stuff are nice, but the costs was a ton of time, memory, reboots, and register cleans. This is partly my own fault, should've just have waited for Vista. Tell the great god Bill I have repented of my sins and I will download no more whack substitutes.

Been using 10.5 since it was released and overall the pack is great. There are a couple issues I have noticed which is occuring on several machines here at home. Exiting the side bar an error pops up, as if the sidebar crashes on exit. Another problem is irregular behavior and slowdowns when browsing the web in Internet Explorer. Uninstalling the pack fixes the problem. Along with the slowdown, as someone else pointed out the sidebar uses a ton of memory. I know it is going to use a bit, but 200MB+ is a bit much. These are standard installs, nothing else added, no pictures in the slideshow except default XP pics ect..
Systems having the problems are all Windows XP Pro with Slipstream SP2 and all updates except for Media Player 10. Anyways, hope to see future versions, keep up the good work!

The sidebar is nice but is eating a huge amount of memory(140-216Mb). Maybe because of that is having problems.

I'm not a huge fan of the side bar, in fact I'm not using it (it's seperate and is uninstallable). Overall, a very nice set of themes and visual packages. Installation was fine on my XP Pro Corp SP2 build 2600, just take your time. Hope to see more soon!

Which means then it is not loading every thing it needs. Also there sounds like they need to fix the exit problems.
How ever you should Reply to the publisher with The version of XP SP1 sp2 with or without all the updates. Also amount of ram etc.,
It's easier to fix when you post all that information.

I tried this in a virtual machine. I don't know how true to the real Longhorn this is but it has some interesting things. Most of it is just changes to the explorer shell and added appearance options and wallpaper, etc. The sidebar is ok but hardly adds anything groundbreaking. The best stuff is probably just the explorer shell changes.
The sidebar crashes when I exit out of it.
Oh, and the documentation and instructions in the setup are terrible. Most of the prompts are in very poorly worded English sentences.

Why would someone "transform" XP into a LH ??

I think the programmer(Mr.X) is very sharp.I would hire him.Hey Mr.X, please make more of your cool stuff. Why not try to make a merge of linspire and windows? It would be really cool! How about playing with the Alice the talking bot software?Thats what we need!A AI Linspire Windows merge package with a bot as the administrator!Don't forget to include a neural net. Thanks for the fun free software!

RRW try starting the Windows Theme Service. This might help. I've tried only the Visual Styles from this and thought they were good quality. But I think its a bit ott to try make ur comp look like longhorn. When its released then you won't have the fun anymore. Its better to find a more unique style from deviant art imo.

what a waste, just so it looks like you have LH this is a waste of time, more pretty theams and pretty fonts and pretty boxes just use sys resources.= pc runs slower. Id rather see a xp pack that gave it a good kick in the a** instead.

Installed it, was not bad but did not wish to leave it on. Uninstall took away all XP themes for my buttons and taskbar. Wish someone could tell me how to get them back. RWW

Best version to date. Fixes problem of visual styles not being installed properly, works fine on my XP SP2 PC. Even installed logon screen correctly. Worth another look, can only get better.

I get "LTP has detected that there's any (sic) Windows NT set-up file in C:\Windows\i386" error when trying to install
tcpaulh reviewed v10.0 on May 30, 2005
Superb except it has a bug in that if you move the taskbar to the left of the screen the start menu leaves a residual image.
Banquo reviewed v10.0 on May 26, 2005
Blackhole8746, it installs all the visual styles. All you have to do is go to display properties and pick the one you want. But the author is the idiot right?

Kepps getting better... the way M$ should have done it.
Mr. Windows X = U R Da BeSt
Version X installed and ran flawlessly with stunning immediate results. Despite the few reboots required by win, no bugs whatsoever (providing one reads the info provided IN YOUR FACE).

installed without sidebar runs and installs perfectly.when i installed the sidebar feature was useless.however i use smartbar xp as an alternative which functions perfectly.the sidebar in this program is the only thing wrong otherwise a perfect 5 would have been rated.
zappah reviewed v9.0 on Feb 8, 2005
Installed in safe mode since system files were being changed and all worked well but no side bar. Otherwise everything seems to be working fine.

Yes its finally Out! I love them all! Finally!
mcm reviewed v9.0 on Feb 7, 2005
Installed without any problems and introduced some nice themes from Longhorn. I especially like the new icons.
I would recommend installing this from Safe Mode. If you do have problems then boot off your Windows XP CD and choose to repair your windows installation.

as far as im concerned this thing might as well be a virus. It DELETED my shell32.dll, msgina.dll, and explorer.exe, AND ntoskernel.exe... for those of you who dont know, those are all really important for starting windows. I spent the last 4 hours getting my computer running again. I do not recommend this program at all.
Any program that the creator warns you more than twice durring install that it could potentially destroy your computer (and happens to have a terrible grasp of the english language) most likely will.
Be Warned!

I was the brave risk taker and well, I got burned. This totally messed my computer, had to in-place re-installed Windows. However, although I was burned and burned badly. I still like this program. When it does work, it looks awesome. My advice, don't install on a production computer. If it's a fun computer, go ahead.

Uninstalls cleanly for me.

This is for the bold ones, people who are risk takers. Installed on one of my PCs, and some items were functional, some where not. Followed insts, disabled System Restore, etc. May work for you, may not.
popdog reviewed v9.0 on Feb 7, 2005
Not bad, it does what it says (except the sidebar which was totally screwed up on mine, dont bother installing that). Ive now uninstalled it as it was slowing my bootup down and that went fairly smoothly.
jroe reviewed v9.0 on Feb 7, 2005
I was due to blow up my computer so I decided to give it a try - But surprisingly it's quite nice - I wouldn't suggest it unless you don't mind screwing up your pc though - It seems to be quite stable with the exception of a flaky sidebar but it is making extensive changes to your OS so if your going to venture into this and you don't like it you might be in for trouble - I have not tried the uninstall feature yet though so perhaps that will work well. All in all the program is done well and the themes are great! Just be wary when you try it because of the amount of changes.
DarkHound reviewed v9.0 on Feb 7, 2005
I haven't tried one of these since like version 4, but I have to say I like some of the new styles in version 9. My only beef is that the sidebar thing never seems to work right so if I were you I wouldn't install that piece.
Save for that, it's a great product. I'm going to give it a 4 based on the sidebar piece. Because if it's included it should work properly, but all the other functionality and the installer deserve a 5.

it dont work properly needs a fix as the new task bar dont seem to install properly, try numerous things nothing worked. using 8 again still love it though
