Publisher's Description
Net Transport is a fast and powerful download tool. You may use it to download files from Internet servers. It now supports HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, MMS (Microsoft Media Services), and RTSP (Real-Time Streaming Protocol) - five protocols used to transfer data. It can use multiple threads to download files. If a site allows multithreaded downloads, you can expect much faster speeds. This is especially effective for MMS streams because they use a fixed transmission speed and loading several streams of the same file fully uses your Internet bandwidth.

i was using orbit downloader which was better than flashget. but this program is really the best in speed and of course needs improvement.
for me the speed is everything.
so i have compared this to orbit and for me:
1st Net Transport
2nd Orbit downloader
3rd Flashget
it would be the best and one if this program uses the same features of orbit downloader
give a try and see the speed.

One of the best DL-managers, unfortunately not free.
I still rate it 5, because it leeches from sources
where other DL-managers fail. Anyway, sometimes its
better to use getright or Flashget which now is free...

Net Transport is simply the best when it comes to grabbing streams.
Gigaget and wellget both fail more then they succeed.
Net Transport is solid and reliable.
Version 1.94.0.281 is the version I still end up using, the 2.x version change the layout some.
spiked reviewed v2.10 on Feb 16, 2006
I used to be the biggest Net Transport fan, and I'm sorry that the author had personal problems which interrupted development a couple of years ago, but Net Transport's days are over.
Gigaget cloned Net Transport and went further, while Net Transport was wasting time on the separate FTP Transport and pathetic directory naming problems (NetTransport vs. Net Transport vs. NetTransport2...gimme a break). I find it hilarious that Net Transport suddenly adds HTML parsing after Gigaget's release where HTML parsing is one of its key improvements over Net Transport.

It's better than IDM and certainly much better than Flashget in the sense that Flashget is generating spyware. I use both, IDM and Net Transport.

Note to "Wings" :
FlashGet does NOT have SpyWare. It's AdWare, FULLY disclosed in fact, until you REGISTER and BUY IT. I regg'd it and use it ALL the time. So, yes [DUH!] FlashGet with ads will slow your system down.

Wings reviewed v1.94b on Jul 2, 2005
I was fed up with FlashGet and the stupid spyware or whatever it is and this program has a lot to offer what FlashGet hs to offer and does it as good, if not better than that product.
As for the whiners who want everything free; it's redicolous that you rate the product lower because there is no freeware version. It's a good product and I fully understand that the author wants money for it. Get a job guys!
wagner reatto reviewed v1.94 on Feb 19, 2005
since i knew this software i use it; of course, freeware version. by the way, i really think authors could not change their polices - free to paid - when developing their FREEWARE software and after posting a final release(paid); at least, leaving a free version for those users helped testing it!
Comit reviewed v1.93 on Dec 31, 2004

This app is great and basically still free. I'm using 1.92.273 which is the latest released. The extra shareware features I really don't want or need in a http download manager.
Best to use smartFTP and Putty for those features.
Netsphinx reviewed v1.91 on Aug 2, 2004

As always, the freebie gets the high ratings. Well, yuck, I hate it.
wagner reatto reviewed v1.90 on Jul 7, 2004
this is , imo, the best dl/m i ever used for all these days(years?!). for sure, the author has a right to change it to 'shareware', since he still continues to support all users that are using his software as 'freeware'; this crowd made nettransport what it is today.
piercedboi99 reviewed v1.90 on Jun 25, 2004
One of the best download managers around. I have tried many free or paid (the paid apps had many things I never used and not very user friendly.
I was wondering however when the good times would end & it would be offered as a pay app, so it came to know suprise when I saw this. If anyone kept track on creator's site he has been going through some difficulties.
I am glad though that in a sense NTprt is still is a free app and you only have to pay for the minor enhancements if you ever use them which I am sure most of us do not. So I still give it a high rating and glad that this app is still around and hopefully will continue to be.
thefly42 reviewed v1.90 on Jun 24, 2004
Just a follow on cricri_pingouin's bemoaning of this application becoming shareware. It is only the extra advanced features that are shareware. The program as it has been is still freeware. The features that you need to pay for are the following.
RN5/NTLM)
SSL (Secure Sockets Layer)
SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol)
NAT/ICS/ICF.
I should say that there is a minor problem with this latest Version 1.90. But it is a great application.
cricri_pingouin reviewed v1.90 on Jun 23, 2004
Shareware? Augh, worst news of the day, I was using this one solely because it was freeware. I'm sticking to 1.87 here, and maybe I'll move along to another freeware if a good one comes along :(
Update: As mentionned above, the program w/o advanced features is still free, and with no nags as far as I could tell! So I reconsider my rating to 4 stars :)

This would be the perfect downloader if only it could download a file from multiple mirrors simultaneously. (It can download portions of a file simultaneously from the same source, and it can download multiple files simultaneously from one source each, but it can't assemble a file from multiple sources like GetRight.)
yokozuna reviewed v1.85a on Apr 9, 2004
The program is great. I have used it for a long time since Star Downloader is not freeware anymore. I like it very much and consider it as one of the best in its class. Pity that we cannot expect quick development in the nearest future (read this http://www.xi-soft.com/download.htm and you will know what happened), but, of course, I understand the author.

Wow, this great program is basically Flashget (an almost exact copy of it, it now has "Download all" etc) with the ability to download streaming media. Yes it's freeware as of now, but I see from the homepage that the author intends to make it shareware soon (7th Q & A): http://lycos26486.l97.lycos.com.cn/faq.htm Regardless of that, it's an awesome piece of software and I've uninstalled Flashget in favor of it.

This program was a good addon to alleviate the normal tedious look of WindowsXP. But a check of resources showed that this program ate HUGE amounts of memory. They've since fixed this to a degree, but that fix came too late. UXTheme patcher is definitely the way to go. Doesn't use ANY resources, and does everything that this program does. The only problem is hunting down kewl now themes that aren't designed specifically for this program or WindowsBlinds. They're out there... but you have to hunt them down. In any case, this program is done. And it's certainly not worth paying for. Skip this one.

jsr reviewed v1.53 on Dec 2, 2003
The first download was incomplete though it stated 100% download. But that is only the beginning. Thereafter everything is smooth. Speed -- exceptionally fast.
iax reviewed v1.53 on Dec 1, 2003
The software is an unbelieveable value for freeware, but it doesn't hold a candle to Leechget which is also free. I tried it out for the mms/rtsp handling, but it doesn't use IE cookies, so it can't handle my subscriber content, and even other content it was pretty weak on. This is cool software, and major kudos to the author, but it has a ways to go before it hits the bigtime.
CyberInferno reviewed v1.52 on Oct 27, 2003
This program is a good downloader that can download incredibly quickly, but it falls short in a couple of areas. First, it cannot find alternative mirrors, which severely cripples download rate when it's initially from a slow server. Second, it has a problem reacting to server problems. I've watched downloads speed until a point, at which they stop and sit there. It won't continue downloading until I pause it and resume it manually. Other than these flaws, it's a good downloader. It's speed is uncontested.

Dont understimate this app. It's really fast download. I tested it and I can assure you it's faster than that CRAPPY DOWNLOAD ACCELERATOR. The only thing is lacking it's the way you can download all links from a webpage (for such thing, reget and flashget are the best).
Also it's free, multilanguage, ad/spyware *free*.
I recomand to play with it, it's very nice and fast.
The gui remember me -dunno why- the old jetcar ^_^;
