Publisher's Description
POP Peeper is an email notifier that runs in your Windows task bar and alerts you when you have new email on any of your POP3, Hotmail, MSN, Yahoo, Mail.com, MyWay, Excite, Lycos.com, or RediffMail accounts. Send mail using your SMTP server or through your webmail account directly from POP Peeper. It supports HTML email, so you can see your email the same way as you would in your email client. Several options are available that will decrease or eliminate the risks of reading your email (viruses, javascript, webbugs, etc). If you share your computer, you can password-protect your accounts or password-protect access to POP Peeper.

Years of use here. Solid email app. New version has larger MB installer, but if you uncheck the Pro features, it is still light as a feather, and only uses about 7mbs of memory in the background.

Excellent- Basically an email notifier, Pop Peeper is fit to serve as an email client as well. I use it as a notifier hence as a filter tool archiving spam before deleting it hence preventing my email client from being polluted with trash. Handles all email protocols.
This version 4 is a major update offering enhanced options in its paid version but keeping (and even optimizing) the free version attributes (same installer for both). I've been using Pop Peeper for years, a true email companion. Rating is 5+

The v4 beta has been out for well over a year now, and this guy's only just put out 3.8.1.0? Nonetheless, I use this all the time, it's basically the best multiple mail account checker available.

Best email app on the planet! Truely one of the greatest in software history.
Been using this since the early days. And I just purchased the premium addon pack today.

I downloaded this application thinking it would be just another piece of digital crap, mainly because I've installed thousands of applications over the years, and ... oh I'm just spitballing here, but probably 95% of them are crap.
However, this is a great application, especially given that it's free. Nice interface, nice customizability, nice everything. In fact, the only thing I need Thunderbird for anymore is when I want to save a message long-term. Other than that, for sending/receiving, this is it.

Outstanding utility for monitoring multiple email accounts.Small (under 2MB), fast and portable. Has e-mail preview feature or can launch your e-mail client by default.
Anomoly:
This is NOT an email client. It has a very, very basic email client built-in but it's main purpose is to periodically check all your email accounts, alert you when you have new messages and view their header information. This is my favorite part since I can tell from the header if it is spam and delete it without having to load my Email client. Yes I use Slypheed too and it is an excellent email client but I prefer to leave POP peeper running in the system tray since it is light on resources and run Slypheed when I need to read/reply to messages.
Vimes reviewed v3.5 on Aug 25, 2009

This program isn't what I was expecting. This thing is more of an actual mini email client than it is a pop mail checker. For example, with Gmail, it doesn't even load your browser to view gmail, instead it downloads all the messages and displays them just like an email client. If thats the case, I might as well use a real email client. They need to rename this product, because it definitely is NOT a POP mail checker/notifier=peeper.
bellgamin reviewed v3.3.1.0 on Sep 3, 2008
Pop Peeper (PopP) is a superb tool for receiving and screening messages. I have used it for several years and consider it a "must have."
PopP is also an essential part of my security protection. It not only enables me to quickly spot & eliminate any spam, it is a totally safe way to screen messages for possible malware.
PopP has an active, responsive Support Forum, with a community of friendly & helpful users. PopP's own developer regularly participates in the forum, so technical support (although rarely needed) is readily at hand.
With 5 being the highest score possible, I would wish to rate PopP as 99 -- the very best!
tewa reviewed v3.3.1.0 on Sep 3, 2008
it's a quite nice email client, but this is not what i wanted.
i just need a simple email notification which can display the headers of the new email, and when i click on the account it can open the broswer and log into the account. so far i'm using addons in firefox to do this.
anomoly reviewed v3.3.1.0 on Sep 2, 2008
It works FLAWLESS with live but I had to actually send myself one email from live to gmail just to verify it works as it will not show me my gmail that sits on their server (I have to leave it open all the time?). Delete does not seem to do a damn thing as I have set it to do it pronto and even reopened it as well. Thank god I can not stand email.
Gui is fuglier than sin.
works eh
I'd rather use gdow but it only works with gmail (live is just for s***s and giggles).

A must for the family email manager!
When updating to the latest 3.3.1.0, if some GMAIL or other accounts do not work, just edit the account, first change the server to any other, then change back to the desired server - update and the account is back working fine again.
It would be nice to have information of how to use Pop Peeper for accounts like indiatimes, zapakmail, etc.
tidester reviewed v3.1 on Mar 23, 2008
I have tried dozens of email notifiers (and PAID for many of them!) and POP Peeper outshines ALL of them! All I wanted was a notifier that will let me view my email without opening my full-blown email client. Some of the others would show "text only" with trashy and unreadable output, others would claim to handle mail in html format but wouldn't or couldn't actually display many (most!) of them. Still others wanted to be spam busters only to eat up MANY good emails that you may or may not be able to recover. Some were bloated email clients with the "notifier" label attached because they couldn't sell them for what they were suppposed to be.
In the end, POP Peeper is head and shoulders above all the rest. I can easily view my email and it has a built-in browser that lets me follow links that may be embedded in my email - very convenient! Or, I can just jot a quick reply to a letter. Most of my email can be dispatched very quickly and directly from the mail server.
Now I only have to open my regular email client when important correspondence arrives and POP Peeper lets me know that right away. Nice work!

PopPeeper supports more mail sites than any other program and has tons of features too! Fixes are really quick when a webmail site changes.
Comparing eprompter to PopPeeper is like comparing a 60's VW bug to a Rolls Royce. And eprompter hasn't changed in 5 years and PopPeeper didn't even exist then!
[deXter] reviewed v3.0 on Nov 1, 2006
Currently the best software there is in the email retrival scenario. The only other software that is comparable to POP Peeper is ePrompter.
POP Peeper can still do with a lot of improvements though, and the development time is awfully slow.
PS: Why do people give a 5 rating any way they like? A 5 means the product is absolutely perfect, has no bugs or limitations, and all the features making it the best in its category. Although I agree POP Peeper is the best of its kind, it lacks a LOT of features and functionality that a full fledged Email client provides. If POP Peeper is indeed that good, why don't people use it over Outlook or Thunderbird? The answer is features. The day when Pop Peeper gets enough features to be able to fully replace a full fledged client is the day I'll give POP Peeper a 5.

Great if you've accumulated tons of webmail addresses to go along with your pop. I used to think eprompter was great, but this has it beat by far. The only thing it's missing for me is handling of imap addys.
tannenwheel reviewed v2.4.3 on Jan 28, 2006
i used it for a few months, because it is one of the few that alows a colored multi account listview. i remember no performance issues. but i think the GUI and the overall feeling is weird. now i use popman. similar feature set, better GUI
(create account grouped listviews in 'tabs' and ctrl+tab throug them, F7 to check mail for accounts in current tab - pitty, it's not multithreaded)
zee7 reviewed v2.4.2.0 on Nov 28, 2005
I haven't had good experiences with Pop Peeper thus far. Been using it for about 6 months now and performance is erratic on my machine -- sometimes the mailboxes will receive mail on the first try, other times it takes two or three clicks of the check mail icon. Auto setting hasn't been reliable either. The program also randomly closes with no warning when I attempt to open it from the taskbar. I get a variety of different error messages and the help file is of little use since it fails to explain some of them.
When it does work, it's great, but when it doesn't (which is often in my case), I often wonder why I bother. Checking my accounts manually one by one would be faster. I'm going to try a different program for now and will re-evaluate Pop Peeper in a few months. 3 stars for a noble effort and for being freeware.
bellgamin reviewed v2.4.1.0 on Jul 27, 2005
The Peeper is splendidly superb! Fast. Friendly. Clean GUI. Speedy mail processing. Stable as a rock. Stringently maintained by its programmer. Great support forum.
Hightly recommended -- both as a mail notifier AND as a very compact e-mail client.

POP Peeper is great.
The only two apps I could find that work is POP Peeper and Mail Notifier. I was using POP Tray but it was very unstable and Jet Mail Monitor was also good feature wise but couldn't do SSL for Gmail.
Nikkita reviewed v2.3 on Nov 9, 2004
My daily work is heavily connected with emails. For this reason I need a very convenient and reliable email checker. I have already tried many of them and came to the conclusion that POP Peeper is the best one so far (though not ideal, for example it often doesn't show correctly Russian characters).
