Version 9.0 crashes a lot. Almost everyday there is system maintenance and everyone is forced to logout. Seems like they'd maintain a duplicate system and automatically log people in and out without their knowing it. Computers can do almost anything - it's up to the programmers to fulfill their capabilities.

I have used Pal since 2002 and the only thing that comes closed to it is GCN. Pal provides the user a communication app that I dont see what else they can add to it. Granted there are issues with some users who love to rip off paid names...having said that you gotta let in before they can clean ya out. Pal also provides block features and 24/7 support as well. Yes I am a support person but that is a non paid position and I used pal a long time before I became "Red". I speak for myself and not for Paltalk. Try it, the basic level is free, the Pal Plus is 34.00 a year.

I've been using Paltalk for about 5 years now and in my opinion it is the best one going at the present time. You can go on MSN or Yahoo if you like, they have chat rooms too but I think Paltalk is far better. Paltalk is growing every day and it is also rated the #1 chat with video that is free on the net.
Optionally you can pay $34 per year for Paltalk PLus which gives you full streaming video in 6 video windows simultaneously. I would like to see Paltalk eliminate all the freeloaders, and make it a subscription only program because I think it would free a lot of wasted bandwidth and improve the performance. I give it a 5 .

I have been a Paltalk user for about 3 years. The audio quality is excellent. I only get a pop-up when I sign on or quit Paltalk, a small price to pay to participate in many interesting topic rooms in either audio/video for free. I have not been chatting one on one recently, but I have on other occasions. Seems to work well. Try a pop-up blocker if you are getting a lot of pop-ups. Make sure that the settings are right for your computer. Try it for yourself without listening to the "nay-sayers".

I Use this horrible piece of code, because for the simple fact. to many folks I know are on it. Wish the dev's would get a clue with coding with quality, instead of thinking of ways to spend that green paper.

As a user of PT for quite sometime and an Admin in a few rooms I can say yes it does have it's drawbacks. Having said that it does offer the user plenty. Is it free, yes if you can deal with adware. The newest build has addressed some issues quite well. But the bottom line is is it has a room for everone's tastes.. The upgrade cost for 2 people per yeqar is less then a lunch for 2 and worth it. The security can be tighter, lotsa folks there are lnclined to do a bit of hacking. Multi language help rooms, flexable admin privledges make it a fun chat pgm. GCN is on it's heels though.

The most laughable thing about paltalk is the fact they say it's free. As one of the first beta-testers of this software I remember when it was free or almost free. In the beginning there was advertising but not to the extent it is now with popup ads every minute or so. It also use to only cost $9.00 per year

Now this free program is up to $24.00 per year. What's up with that?

The second most laughable thing about this software is it's claim of prefered support for people who have purchased the software. Well if you have ever waited for hours on end in the support rooms to try and get and answer then you know what I'm talking about. Although the idea is good it fails miserably in my opinion.

Their claim is if you can't find the answer we will give you email support. Well forget that to. After many attempts at email support I finally gave up in frustration because all you ever receive is the canned autoresponder reply from email.

In a final attempt to get the answer to a question that NO ADMIN had the answer for I found their phone number on my credit card statement and called them on the phone.

Instead of answering my question I was asked by the person answering the phone "HOW DID YOU GET THIS PHONE NUMBER"?.

If you notice this company has no contact information available other than email that they don't answer and the support rooms.

Why are they so secretive about who and where they are? As one of the first beta-tests we know who some of them are and have a general idea of where they are. But based on the things that were said wayyyyyyyy back in the beginning is is very disappointing to see the direction they have taken.

It is a good piece of software no doubt. But I have to question their tactics just a bit.

Again good software maybe but true support that they claim is pittiful? Just as an example try getting your money back when they double charge your credit card. Better yet try get in contact with an actual human being at this company some time........

This is a very good comunication program but to get full use of it you need to pay but it's very cheap. And you get full frame video servers for webcams. It works perfect with firewalls and hardware home gateways.

The only bad thing is that the client it self can be a little unstable under Windows XP that is why I just give it a 4 out of 5.

Works fine for me behind my router in my home, why not check the FILE > Setup > ADVANCED SOUND CONTROLS menu for a checkmark that says FIREWALL/HOME NETWORK Support. check that, and then restart the client, works fine. also why not read the support pages, they database PalTalk offers is quite large. you know you aren't the only person who uses PalTalk behind a network.

The ultimate companion IM program to Trillian. See, Trillian has some trouble from time to time connecting to AIM. Since recently Pal Talk can also connect to AIM, so u keep it as backup. Even if PT didn't support AIM it would still be nice to have since its main functionality is VOICE/VIDEO chat. It does that VERY well.

It is a bit unorthodox the Alpha system PT uses. AND 414 IS NOT THE ALPHA CURRENTLY RUNNING! In fact it will not run. The current is 415 and I will let BetaNews and PT both know 414 is still being d/l here. Let's review. I have been using the cvhat program for a while. I have created and admin a room within the PT enviornment. It has many6 features that are both surprising as well as useless. The audio is picky and your wise to check your network connection within the setup. New users csn obtain live assistance when PT loads. The video is ok IF you fork out the bucks for the no ad upgrade then it steams maybe. If not then you get a pic. The world of PT is broken down in catagory's from the extremly volitile "Social Issues" to the diverse music rooms where AC DC and elvis are neighbors. Pal Talk evn with it's shortfalls is in my view the most fun chat app available.
