Publisher's Description
VSO Downloader is a download manager for downloading videos from many video hosting sites and streaming sites. To download a video with VSO Downloader, you can copy/paste the link in the software or activate the automatic mode. When the automatic mode is activated, the software detects the video and audio files playing in your internet browser (any browser supported - Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera, etc.) and downloads them without the need to copy/paste.
The software has an integrated audio and video converter. So you can extract audio from a video format or convert the files to different video formats (mp4, mov, mkv). You can also download the subtitles if the video contains them, choose the resolution from the available ones or normalize the audio level.
Among its features, VSO Downloader detects ads and doesn't download them, it allows you to rename the files while downloading or to restart a download if it has been interrupted. File detection can be customized (size, format, etc.) for a better download experience. The software also has a playlist manager that allows you to easily manage playlists and download from them only selected titles.

not free not even close to free
$30 per year
if you buy it then it is great !
1 star if using the free version

The free " VSO Downloader " loads videos played in your browser automatically.
But those streamed over the RTMP protocol ,
are loaded for non-registered users only 50%.
If you want to enjoy the full comfort,
you must charge (30 euros per year) to
register the ultimate version .
In that case I usually and successfully bypassed
by choosing an different source ;-)
... or maybe the downloadHelper ...

The next major update is going to support SSL/HTTPS, youtube will no longer be a hassle/problem, even more sites is supported, I'm really happy to see you guys picking this program up and placeing it in the toprange again.
With the new v5.0.0XX beta you have restored my faith in this product, yet again it is by far the best out there.
Keep up the good work, and THANK YOU for listening to your customers.
If you have a license for this program, go to the forum and pick up the latest beta, it is a real treat imo.

Ok, now the Youtube support is almost nonexistent, I have bought the Ultimate version long ago, but this program has been worse and worse.
I'll go and get me a good program, a program that actually works with yourtube, I'm done with this crap.
One of your most dedicated fans has now left the building.

All one needs to grab videos from all kind of sites.
-2 stars:
If they get the youtube grabbing fixed it will be 5 again.
Other software solutions has no problem with grabbing videos from https://youtube.com , why is it VSODownloader does not work with that site?
Please get that fixed!

Still the best, if you need all the bells and whistles go ultimate, well worth the money imo.

some files are saves as a .ext extension ! also 20% of the time the file or corrupt and will not open. IDM works much better and is my choice

At first sight, that program seemed yet another downloader, but I can say that the oh so classic interface should not discourage you from testing it: results are great.
I have downloaded a significant amount of videos and all went fine.
SgReenFall reviewed v4.1.0.18 on Aug 13, 2014
It's freemium. So you can download most videos without paying. It's faster and more stable than most similar programs I've tried.
The Ultimate version is worth buying it. The YouTube support is second to none.

The best downloader I've tested so far. Has greatly improved over the last months especially with version 4 that perfectly works with sites I download from.
Impeccable.
Bradbull reviewed v4.1.0.18 on Aug 6, 2014
Compatible with lots of sites, including Youtube (plus HD), which is not supported properly by most of downloaders.
The GUI looks basic but actually it's very clean. Don't need to see plenty of buttons everywhere. The simpler the better.
Betanews, please update the screenshot, version 4 has been out for months...

IDM offers more and has a better video detention rate
DKDude reviewed v4.1.0.13 on Jul 25, 2014
Hands down the best at what it does.
I'm just a buyer who is pleased with what I have PAID for, I like to support those who makes software, I do not demand to get everything for free, I'm not stingy.
CyberDoc999 reviewed v4.0.0.19 on May 31, 2014
this one is better
http://www.tomabo.com/youtube-video-downloader/
it gives you a 30 day free trial
works 100%
VSO is only 50%
DK Dude works for VSO
inkowyouknow reviewed v4.0.0.19 on May 28, 2014
Well there website says "100% Clean and free" however some have commented that only 50% of the video is downloaded, whilst this is true and ubber annoying, they also go on to say :
Supports RTMP (downloads 50% for non registered users)
Point here is they should make this crystal clear, on the basis they don`t its not good.
When you register, you pay a fee:
Ultimate version Features:
- No limitation for advanced protocols, inlcuding RTMP
- Record online radios
- No file size limit for stream recorder
- Convert to various video formats (trial includes watermark)
- Convert to high quality MP3 format
- Get priority support
Are the benefits, but ultimately suggesting a half baked program is free giving half baked results says where its at, in a word : Failure

Cyberdoc999
The program you link to is a try-version, Since when is 29.99$ equal to free?
The program you are advertising for will only work 14days, after that it works 0% without a paid License.
VSO basic is FREE and will work forever.
Smells like spam/advertising for a program similar to VSODownloader.
@inkowyouknow
You are angry that you don't get the full package for free, the package other has paid for, get real.
The Free-version is a basic-version, and good for most people, you need the extra bells and whistles, you pay. If you can find a FREE tool able to do what VSODownloader Ultimate does, Feel free to use that.
Good luck on your quest.

The BEST no doubt about that, great support, if problems they answer quick and precise. worth every penny.
The free program supports all the most common protocols, most people don't need more, if you need it for secure protocols, then you have to buy the ultimate version.
CyberDoc999 reviewed v3.1.1.13 on Nov 20, 2013
what a minute
this IS NOT a free program
the free version only downloads 50% of the video
and that is kind of useless. it works but NOT really
DKDude reviewed v3.1.0.49 on Aug 23, 2013

Keep up the good work.
minklein reviewed v2.9.13.13 on Nov 27, 2012
Works pretty good for saving as a .flv. If you want to convert the file, you buy it, so if you want all the features it is not free. I gave it a 2 as I have no idea how well it does a conversion. Watermark present. "Buy a License."
c4p0ne reviewed v2.9.12.0 on Oct 17, 2012
It is a *tiny* bit unstable, however, all-in-all I must say that this could really be the end-all as far as successfully downloading deliberately obfuscated streams from the internet! I can't believe someone didn't do this YEARS ago.
In theory, it is basically impossible to prevent this program from downloading streaming content, precisely because of the fact that it functions on the NETWORK LEVEL (Hence the mandatory WinPCAP driver installation). I personally haven't had it fail once, even on sites that violently block you from downloading.
Excellent, keep up the good work!

Bought the ultimate version, to get the last few things unlocked.
