Development hasn't stopped but the application has changed it's name and has evolved a fair bit too...see:

Great alternative to skype and handles all other open IM formats, but development seems to have stopped on it sadly...

Haee just removed this after getting no where in trying to set it up. Very pretty software but unable to sign up for an account despite repeated attempts (I'm not a novice). The signup process repeatedly fails, both from the software (service temporarily unavailable) and from the website - account not recognized - it just doesn't work. Not sure what this software is for, as I say very pretty but currently unuseable and a waste of time.

Tried it and its quite pleasant to use, great call quality, arguably superior to skype although I didn't do any dsp analysis so i dont have numbers on this.
People should also remember that skype is also showing ads on their site for services.

For cris sake the wengo main page is nothing more than advertizing for services using wengo itself-extremely lame. And home page link defaults to french-lame

Looks good, but skype came first... everyone I know uses skype... and none are geeky enough to care about switching. Same problem with IMs. All my friends use msn so am unable to use anything else.

Actually WengoPhone is far more than a voice communicator only. The description above was made for WengoPhone Classic (aka v.9x). WengoPhone v.2.x is a full fledged SIP client (you can connect any SIP network) as well as it can connect to MSN Messenger, AIM, ICQ, Jabber, and the Yahoo Messenger networks. Available for Mac, Win and Linux.

Skype works fine, but Wengo does not (for me, anyway). Selected language is English, but some audio error message is only in French. And, cannot make any phone connection work.
