When it is a matter of choosing between WinBar or StatBar is the winner : WinBar, uses less CPU and has trackersupport so you can see highlights from sites that has trackersupport. Does anyone knows if there is another like StatBar and Winbar for windows available?I am using WinBar 1.2.95 beta a few years now with great satisfaction (Quicklaunch doesn't work in this version) but just curious..Thnx in advance.

Version 1's feature set is MUCH better right now IMHO. Wait 'til final release of ver. 2 later this year or download ver 1 -- it works fine on XP.

Might be good, but can't cope with large fonts on a 1024 desktop on a 15" monitor, totally unreadable

I find this program incredibly useful, very easy to customize and graphically pleasing. The only real grief I have is this program is a bit heavy on the CPU / RAM usage, about the same as my AOL Instant Messanger. A great program but if you are scraping for every MB of RAM, you might want to look elsewhere..

This is a great program. I also think that there should be a second line so I can add the Quick Launch module and would like an Open Program module so I can hide the Windows Task Bar.

Hard to beleive it's a free application. You get a 5 out of 5!

Great job!

surfbum4fun, have you even downloaded and tried this program?! Apparently not. It has so many more features than the Windows Task Manager plus it shows it all in a very convenient tiny space at all times. I love this app. I get my news from it (too bad it doesn't support multiple trackers though), I can see when I need to clean my RAM, I can see when an app uses too much CPU and has a problem (explaining why a system gets slow sometimes), can see how my downloads are doing (speed), can easily and quickly adjust my volume, quickly see my IP etc. etc. I miss it a LOT when I'm on another system without WinBar! Very curious about the completely rewritten 2.0 version. Hope it comes out soon.

it's not a problem for me to discontinue this version. i've promised it a while ago because i had users wishing to share their cam on communities without having to buy a pro license however if now you dislike it, i'll simply discontinue this one and stop loosing time with it...

This is a good desktop tool. It'd be nice if you could add a second line of tools, as you can only use so many of the options at one time. Works fine though, on Windows Me, with a 700 mHz duron processor.

No point in releasing it as freeware if you can't even use it. Re-release it as junkware

i can get the same information from the task manager in xp.so this app is useless..

Attention. The leak reported a few posts below is true. It's about GDI objects. Open the configuration and jump between the tabs. You'll see the GDI objects increasing like mad (or, if using a Win9X/Me setting, you'll experience a system crash after some jumps, since those OS's have a limited number of resources).

Also, it seems that deactivating the modules doesn't free the GDI objects related to them, but I am not completely sure of this.

I hope the author fixes these leaks, which are quite important. ( To say it in numbers, IE is using right now 483GDI objects, and WinBar 924, and 1229 with the Configuration dialog opened )

Last, a bug report and a suggestion: The "General" tab doesn't show all the options, the Opacity is almost hidden because the dialog is not big enough. And I wish I could have the modules shown from right to left, instead of left to right.

Y'all can't go wrong by trying Winbar. It's a well written piece of code. John's done a fine job. Give it a try, I figure you'll like it unless you have no need for a lot of info in a small space. Very configureable. Yeah I like it!
Thanx John, I appreciate your efforts. ;o)

I really enjoy this little program. I've found the winamp and volume applets to be most useful. I give it 4 stars because it'll lose my preferences, resetting itself back to the default options, on occasion. It also sometimes gets in the way of other toolbars, but is a minor inconvenience. Otherwise, I like it.

STILL a RAM eating CPU hogging complete waste of time. Sorry if I hurt anyone's feeling but this thing is a piece of junk...still.

like most of the others, I am really impressed with this, all my other stat type programs have been deleted for this one
I do have a couple complaints though, it doesnt seem to support my dual monitor setup very well, it will sometimes lose its snap to the top of my screen when changing video modes and has to be restarted to fix it, also its lost its settings on me a few times..its been awhile now, but for awhile there it was losing its settings everyday, I was just about to give up next time it did it and it hasnt done it since..*shrug*
I havent installed this new version yet, I'm afraid its gonna lose all my settings and I'm in no mood to reconfigure it right now.
overall great program, and FREEWAERE? wow incredible.

I'm not sure what people are smoking if they think this program is a waste of time. Great program, easy install, compact, non-naggy, and it doesn't take much space on a screen. Good program, keep it up.

I don't know what angle VictorAnderson is coming from. Are you reviewing WinBar on how good it does it's job or your personal opinion on something? Well anyway, i've tried "Coolmon", "StatBar", "CureInfo" and god knows how many more desktop system stat displayers, but this one has impressed my the most. All of them take usally the same amount of ram, about 6-9mb, wow, big ram loss there for such a great job, if you can't afford 9mb of ram, you need to buy some more ram before you can venture forward in computing. WinBar displays everything the others can do, minus the plug-ins made by the people, and raps it all in a neat little package that starts good and ends good. Easy to config and get started compared to "CureInfo" and "Coolmon" and looks generally nice. Lots of options, hasn't crashed on me once, always keeps it's place on the desktop above everything else, not like the other's. Generally a really really well designed, thought out and developed program for it's genre of work. If you want to know how much ram and cpu usage your every day applications are taking, then get this program. If you want to know how long your computer has been on for, and monitor your download/upload speeds, get this program. It will do every one of them with ease.

This is one nice program! I have my uptime, memory and cpu usage levels and other great features sitting there... At first I thought it might get in the way but I downloaded it this morning and it's still installed now - A pretty good sign it won't be leaving fast!
As others have said, Even if you don't like these types of programs, download this one and try it! It really is awesome!

What are all you guys on drugs or did the author pay you for these reviews? This thing is an insane waste of time! The only remotely interesting this about it is the supposed newsfeeds and worldflash is 1000 times better for that than this. Do yourself a favor, dont waste your cpu & memory on this pile of junk.

Very good job.
