Publisher's Description

Zoom Player is a robust media and DVD front-end player. It was designed to be simple at first glance while being remarkably dynamic and flexible when used to its full potential. It works in two modes: a Media mode which can play any file supported by DirectShow (any file which plays in MediaPlayer) and a DVD mode which uses pre-installed DirectShow DVD filters to play DVD content. It supersedes media player in all it's functions and provides several important functions that media player lacks. It provides special zooming functions to improve TV-output quality by eliminating overscan.

I've been using Zoom Player now for 15 years or more (since the Windows XP days) because I found that it not only loaded faster than Windows Media Player, and was less resource intensive, but it didn't have issues with lag when loading the next video either. And as I said, after you use the Install Center, it can pretty much play anything you can think of. It works great in conjunction with Shark007's Codecs.

I use Zoom on my Surface Pro 3 to play videos from my main desktop PC. I like it for its simplicity and its touch interface. I don't know about all its advanced features. I don't need to. Just tough the screen to play and pause.

Far too complicated for me and I would think for the average user. I'll stick with simplicity and keep using VLC. If you want chaos then Zoom Player is for you.

Pros: Very stable and highly customizable. You can play almost anything you can throw at it. It has an Equalizer built-in.

Cons: Has so many features and options that it may confuse users who are used to a more basic player, despite giving users a Basic/Advanced view for settings.

Bottom Line: I've been using Zoom Player now for 15 years or more (since the Windows XP days) because I found that it not only loaded faster than Windows Media Player, and was less resource intensive, but it didn't have issues with lag when loading the next video either. And as I said, after you use the Install Center, it can pretty much play anything you can think of. It works great in conjunction with Shark007's Codecs.
