installed with glitchs (had to keep pushing the contiune button) as its not xp certified ~ knobbed up all my network connection needs some work but not quite ready yet

liquiem

installs fine, except it doesnt detect the right program files folder. defaults to c:\program files\
second glitch. it doesnt recognize my dialup- and vpn-connection. i can limit traffic on LAN-connection, but why, it's a LAN-connection. to sum it up, bandwidth controller is worthless for my setup.

Its amazing how many people obviously don't actually read what this program does.... its NOT primarily a bandwidth monitoring program, but a bandwidth controlling program... which means it can be used to reduce traffic through whatever network connections you want. I use this program and netlimiter and DUMeter. They all perform different functions.

Good program, but BWMeter is a better.
BWMeter have beter GUI and much more options.

you missed the point , bandwidth controller kan be used on e.g an router to limit certain clients on the LAN via IP or MAC, Netlimiter can limit procceses on the client thats using it i.e netlimiter and bandwidth controller are two totaly different types of limit programs.

Didn't even try this program (so disregard my rating)...but I wanted to say that NetLimiter offers similar (and pretty robust) functionality that is similar to what this application claims. So if you need or want something like that then dload a trial at: http://www.netlimiter.com

If you want your computer to work, DO NOT install this software.
after uninstall, it will corrupt your network drivers and you wont be able to connect to anywhere.

To the two people that have suffered critical problems, could you please e-mail me with some details of your configuration.

Because the software contains a kernel component (NDIS Intermediate Driver), it is possible that it will crash in a bad way if it conflicts with certain configurations (blue screen, unable to boot after installing etc). Normal software can't really do that kind of damage. There is a standard procedure that is used to disable the driver without entering Windows. E-mail me for details. This will be added to the docs soon.

The driver is still in beta but we are determined to make it as robust and error free as possible. We apologize for any time or data lost because of this software.

Ouch!! dont try to uninstall this prog if you have installed it!!! It has corrupted my network card driver by adding another device. I finally got the server to start after 1 hour of messing around with various configurations.and it still wont allow me to uninstall the Bandwidth Controller component in device manager. Im runing Win 2k Server on a old p500 so its not really important just really annoying
Do not let this prog near any machine!!!!

Um, don't you see the flaw in your logic? If *nix can already do it, why write another package to do it? There are A LOT of home users running a Windows server (not everyone runs a *nix server) who don't have access to Microsoft Internet and Security Accelerator to control their bandwidth. This may well be very handy. See my first post!

What is the point of creating a program like this for windows? Linux (and other UNIX platforms) can do much more than this (CBQ, HTB etc.) for a long while. A network server should be easily accessible from the network, windows isn't. I think the idea is valid but the selection of the OS is lacking.
