one of the other dl sites has comment about FontRenamer (www.neuber.com/) saying that renaming some fonts may messup some programs.
(no idea about this one. betanews forces rating when comment, so i chose "3")

Lame. Lower left panel nags you. It doesn't show you the new name of the font before renaming.
Google Font Xplorer. It's a full font manager including renamer. Also, there used to be a really good freeware called FontRenamer. I tried to Google it and it seems to have disappeared from the web. I uploaded it here: http://stashbox.org/6678...Renamer-%5B1.2.1%5D.rar
