Get File Size is an Internet Explorer add-on that allows you to find out the size of a file before downloading it. It does not require any special skills, just right-click the link to a file and select "Get File Size", the program will immediately show you the size of the file. Moreover, it will show you the date when the file was modified last time.
- New option: display server response headers in the main window
- New option: enable auto complete for the URL edit box
- Download button added
- Image dimensions detection for GIF, PNG, BMP and JPG images
- FIXED: redirection to a relative URL fails
- FIXED: Esc key won't close the program
Reviewing 2.2 (May 7, 2005)
I do a tremendous amount of software downloading each week as part of my IT admin duties. I often visit the same software publishers' sites to check for updates. With GetFileSize, I can simply right-click a download link to check a potential download's last-modified date, to see if it's really an update to my library. *Especially* handy for those downloads that don't have digital signatures or the ability to see the contents' file dates. I can't recommend this utility highly enough; it does exactly what it purports to do. Bravo!
