HTML Image Splitter is an image slicing utility. It can dramatically speed up loading of huge images which your HTML page includes. You can select method of fragmentation. Your resulting picture looks exactly equal to the original during of seamless integration of slices. User's Internet browser will load slices of the picture simultaneously. You can specify a slice as a "No Image" slice, to contain a solid color and no image content. You are able to split your picture for pasting in an HTML table without any delay. Every slice can be assigned HTML tags HREF, ALT, TARGET, OnMouseOver, OnMouseOut. Built-in easy to use HTML editor helps you to manage a html code obtained.

Just got sent this program by my good buddys, the mockshame kru. I have to say it has TOTALLY revolutionised the way i make websites, no longer do i have to spend hours toiling over gif after gif, splitting them into a million seemingly pointless 'micro' gif's. I would show u some examples of my handiwork before and after using this AMAZING program, but alas my hosting isnt working *shame*
To sum up... If your a gifsplicing freak like myself, ur gonna go splicetastically loopy over this ;)

hahalol this tool is absolutely ****ing amazing - i've managed to gifsplice and entire 3Gb image into a mountain of useless smaller ones and succeed in totally ****ing up my page beyond belief!! A MUST DOWNLOAD!!! xoxoxox

The problem with this theory is that while you can drop the total file size of an image by doing selective compression, increasing the number of requests for files to a server will actually increase the load time of a page. It's faster to load one 100KB image than to load 20 3KB images.
