i question whether having it run on startup in the tray actually consumes more ram than it is worth. i run it when necessary, then kill the service.
tip: do not leave it on auto defrag if you burn cds regularly...trust me ;-)

It doesn't really seem to recover much in the way of actually lost memory, rather it reduces the file cache size primarily. However that would be useful if your file cache started getting insanely large. (the actual cache options are disabled in the Shareware version)
