I used it for more than a year, and I am surprised I used it that long. Lots of bugs in the application. Just check their forums. Plus the developers and moderators are rude when posting bug finds or asking for help.
Honestly, the bat sucks, and if your looking for a good client you can always try PocoMail.

I thought about buying it when it was 2.x.
But after they added a useless feature like support for smilies, while they had lots of cosmetic bugs to fix, I finally got it. I understood that the development of The Bat is going into a wrong direction and decided to replace it, first for Becky Mail, and finally - for free Thunderbird.
I also looked at the stats of the Russian-language group at Yahoo Groups called "thebat" - they have 50 posts per month now, while they had around 300 per month in 2004, when I left that group.

why does it seem like a version of this junk is released every day? and the only people who award it 5/5 are the makers of the product?
They need to concentrate on QUALITY and not a synchronous schedule. It seems to me like theyr'e trying to attract idiots who prefer pretty screeshots rather than good reviews. get Mozzilla Thunderbird. Its better than the pro version of this garbage.

It is completetly shocking that such feature-packed program can be so spoiled by authors that it has 2.0/5.0 at FileForum. Of course I agree - it's buggy, authors are not that great programmers, but it might have been a superb application...
Reviewing 3.71.03 (Apr 2, 2006)
I used and recommended The Bat! consistently until the end of the 2.x series. There was a large and popular international community using The Bat! at this time. For some reason, at the end of the 2.x series, a large number of identical feature requests began to be not only ignored, but deleted from forums; and although badly needed features were not added, expensive upgrades were requested. So, I do not use or recommend The Bat! anymore; primarily I use Mozilla Thunderbird. The Bat! doesn't deserve less than a 2 of 5 rating, though; it is definitely useful.
