glData is a program for displaying data points from different co-ordinate systems. It uses OpenGL for rendering and also includes the provision to import and display Surfer grid files.
Reviewing 0.2.2 (May 17, 2003)
The problem with some surfer grid files is one of scale - eal data' typically has this X,Y >> Z. The program does not auto position (yet). This is being fixed for the next version. Viewing point data from CVS requires the menu item for "Center View on Points" to be selected. I will add an option to automate this.
As for releasing it early? a) its free (with source "release early, release often") and b) its a beta.
Reviewing 0.2.2 (May 16, 2003)
I tried to open several valid Surfer grid files, and nothing appeared in the viewer, and no error message or anything. I then tried opening a CSV file, and again, nothing, until I manually resized the grid of values which then refreshed the thing to show the grid of values. C'mon guys-why even release something at this quality level?
