   Review - WinRAR (32-bit)

   I am not sure how you managed to read an inability to use WinRar in my last comment. As you claim WinZip is convoluted I find convoluted WinRar too, as I said below "jump through hoops to do what I wanted". This suggests usability issues with the application and is a perfectly valid reason for giving it a poor rating. If you again read what I written so far, I do say that the Rar compression is better than WinZip's standard format(original comment), which is the real gem of the app.

   Review - Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Best Practices Analyzer

   1.0 Beta (Nov 13, 2003)

   Overall not a bad program, just needs some polishing, but I guess that will happen by the time it is released.
   
   For example it doesn't mention that .NET 1.1 is required until after the installtion. Although, that may be noted on its web page on Microsoft's web site, I haven't checked.
   
   Not all of the rule descriptions have direct links and so some just point to the contents page. The rule descriptions are always opened in a new broswer, which is annoying.
   
   I am giving it a 4 out of 5 because it is beta and does what it supposed to do.

   Review - Compare It!

   3.2 Beta (Oct 7, 2003)

   Compare It's web site states that WinDiff is 10 years old and that it is time to upgrade to it. I am afraid that this tool lacks one very important feature that WinDiff has and that is the ability to compare directories. I and many of my friends and colleagues always compare a directory first and then compare the different files the tool finds. I am surpised that even at version 3 of the product, the author or its users have failed to add or request this feature.
   
   Stick with WindDiff or look up Beyond Compare
