Maxthon is simply THE BEST, and anyone who thinks otherwise hasn't done a fair comparison. I've used them all and only Firefox even approaches the foothills of Maxthon,
However, that doesn't mean that Maxthon and its developers aren't infuriating. The two biggest problems are that Maxthon 1x is better than Maxthon 2x at what it does, but Maxthon 2x does so much more that you can't use 1x anymore, so you have to sacrifice things like a better "groups' function in 1x, and a much easier and form filler in 1x as well.
Even worse is the fact that Maxthon has no help file and trying to get in in their forum has become impossible as you now have to have some rank in order to even post a question and there's no explanation as to how to get that - IMMEDIATELY! because they recently screwed up their most convenient feature - the auto-hiding sidebar so the only way to get it to work properly is to not use the browser in fullscreen mode and move it left so a few pixels are of-screen - and Maxthon doesn't hold that position when you reopen it. A little program called WinSize solves the problem for the most part.
So what then Makes Maxthon 2x better by far? Just about everything, including the defective sidebar that gives you quick and better access to favorites than Firefox. And the Speed Dial plugin is terrific, though the one that comes built-in is merely good.
I love the aforementioned groups function (though 1x is way better, but you can look under "File" in 2x, and create a "Save Sessions" button that approximates the 1x group function), the plugins selection is terrific and very few are needed since the browser itself does so much. Ad-blocking is as good and simple as any available.
So I'm hopeful that Maxthon 3x will incorporate the best of 1 & 2, but in the meantime, Maxthon 2x is the standard by which all others are measured - and fail.
