0.2.149.27 Beta (Sep 2, 2008)
I think what Google has accomplished here is just incredible. And now we finally have a decent, NATIVE webkit browser on Windows that isn't bloated like Safari (Safari may be rockin' on Mac but the Windows port is just slow and a memory hog!) Fails acid3, which is disappointing because webkit nightly builds have passed it for months. The javascript performance is impressive. Web apps like GMail are so fast and fluid, even snappier than Firefox 3.0 which is saying a lot. Still, as revolutionary as it is, it is too minimal to suit my daily needs. I'll definitely keep this around as one of my secondary browsers though. Keep it up Google!
2.0 Beta 2 (Jun 6, 2008)
beta 2 now works in firefox 3. For all you firefox 3 users, a must upgrade.
1.0 (Nov 28, 2006)
WOW i just can't wait to install this!
5.11 (Oct 20, 2005)
Still the best, in my opinion. :) Though I only use it for audio and the built-in streaming video. Other players are more appropriate for video content (Media Player Classic coupled with FFDShow comes to mind)
7.0.5 (Oct 14, 2005)
Yes, this is the new FULL version of 7.0.5 and includes all previous updates (7.0.1, 7.0.2, etc.) Some claim it is getting more bloated, but still it is a huge improvement over version 6. A must-have for us ebook readers out there. :)
7.0.5 (Jun 12, 2008 - 8:12 PM)
as other comments have hinted, the acid3 passing builds are builds of Opera's further-improved rendering engine which we will be seeing in Opera 10. Anyway I think Opera 9.5 is a nice upgrade.
One problem I should note is there are still a lot of sites sending crippled versions of their layout to Opera users, one that immediately comes to mind is Amazon. Even if you 'mask as firefox' it sends a layout that Opera 9.5 can't correctly render (note the left-hand side navigation panel which, when you hover over the links, the sub-menus disappear if you try to move your mouse onto them. and other small problems)
I do a lot of testing in various browsers so I always keep the latest release installed of all the major ones, but nothing can tear me away from Firefox for my regular browsing. Maybe Opera 10 will change that! Good show, Opera.
7.0.5 (Apr 14, 2008 - 4:18 PM)
great work and a very nice demo. but that is way too awkward to have any real lasting appeal. still i'd like to see more games on the ipod touch/iphone
7.0.5 (Apr 8, 2008 - 2:37 AM)
A sad day for AMD. The performance of their newer offerings just can't stack up to Intel. They need to get their act together, or as the article states, they'll be stuck as a 'value' chip maker. Their recent loss of PC and gamer enthusiasts has got to hurt. Any more would be devastating.
7.0.5 (Apr 4, 2008 - 5:23 PM)
well silverlight 2 beta 1 doesn't work with firefox 3. So, yeah. Hurry up and release beta 2, MS!!
7.0.5 (Dec 22, 2005 - 8:40 AM)
When AOL switches its subscribers over to the Suite, what will happen to the chatrooms? AIM doesn't have publically accessible chatrooms (you can only create private ones for you and your buddies). But when I was using AOL back in the early 90s, the chatrooms were one of my favorite parts of AOL. I hope they don't just get rid of them entirely.
