8.2.8.0 (Jan 30, 2008)
I did, as earlier reviews have suggested, a custom install. After removing everything but Nero Burning Rom (I even removed the NBR help files) I was still left with an install that needed more than 200 MB, how anybody can claim that this is not bloated is beyond me. But in comparison to the full install which is 1.8 GB I guess 200 MB is small and nibble.
When the 15 trial days have gone, so will Nero 8.
3.70 Beta 4 (Mar 2, 2007)
I'd much rather pay $29 once and get lifetime upgrades, than to pay $15 three times a year just because some developer decides to bump the version.
And for WinRAR the price is aboslutely worth it, updates are frequent and good!
1.5 Beta 1 (Jan 1, 2006)
Please forgive me if I'm wrong, but don't VideoLAN also "bundle" codecs (which is why it's a 15MB download)? I say "bundle" because VLC codecs can't be used by any other app, how ALShow handles this I don't really know.
Besides comparing VideoLAN and ALShow isn't really fair. VideoLAN is a great and powerfull app, but I wouldn't recommend it to my old granny (to many strange settings). ALShow on the other hand is a nice and pretty easy to use app and the codec center is a really good idea!
1.1 Alpha 1 RC (May 27, 2005)
Deer Park installed fine alongside Firefox 1.0.4, no problem with bookmarks and 1.0.4 still works fine.. :)
4.4.0.0 Beta (Jan 1, 2005)
AnyDVD works great when it works, but it doesn't work on all DVD-drives. On their site SlySoft says it works on all drives, but when I tried the demo-version all I got was a popup that said that there's known problems with RICHO/PHILIPS DVD writers and Panasonic/Mats***a writers and readers. And that I should look for a firmware upgrade to make my drive RPC1 (e.g. region-free). I have however used it with success with other drives (hence the 3 instead of a 1). But if you consider buying AnyDVD, make sure it works with your system before you pay, because SlySoft won't refund your payment once it's made!!!!!
