  1. Review - Microsoft Windows Movie Maker

    2.0.3312.0 (Jan 30, 2003)

The MS page says the page content was updated on January 28, 2003. It doesn't say the file was updated. As far as I can see, this is the same file that was released earlier in the month, not a changed file.

  2. Review - Norton AntiVirus

    Beta Updated (9.0.0.55a) (Aug 8, 2002)

I had the first beta of 2003 installed until it expired a few days ago. The new beta wasn't ready so I uninstalled beta 1. Today I installed this new beta but it refuses to run, it tells me that my trial period has expired. Boy am I impressed with Norton/Symantec. So now I have Anti-Vir Personal Edition installed. It is FREE. I don't know how good it is but I'll tell you one thing, it doesn't tell me that my trial period has expired on the first day after I installed it like Norton did.

  3. Review - Intel Application Accelerator

    2.3.2135 Beta (Jun 16, 2002)

I installed this update and it trashed my system. It removed both of my dial up connections and prevented me from recreating them. I had to restore from backup. I suspect that this is SABATOGE-WARE, not a real leak.

  4. Review - Winamp Full

    2.80a Updated (May 16, 2002)

Where is the file? The link doesn't work, didn't work yesterday, isn't working this morning. And why is it that no other web site has this update? Some had this supposed update a few weeks ago but the dates in the files were not newer so I suspect there is no update. . . yet. Maybe some day there will be but this isn't it.

  5. Review - WinMX

    3.0 Beta 5 (Feb 21, 2002)

Finally a version that can easily connect to a server. Previous version had trouble. Beta 4 connected but only after waiting 10 minutes or more. Beta 5 connected in just a few seconds. Keep up the good work.

  6. Comment - Nero Enables DVD Creation, Utilizes mp3PRO

    3.0 Beta 5 (Sep 6, 2001 - 1:37 PM)

I compared an mp3 files created in the old way with one created in mp3pro and it was much smaller in size, about one fifth the size. Burning to a disk with Nero resulted in a noticeable loss of loudness though. But I think it is a step in the right direction. The quality of the mp3 is every bit as good or better than the older mp3 format and file size is much smaller.

  7. Comment - Download Windows 2000 SP2 Beta

    3.0 Beta 5 (Dec 16, 2000 - 2:24 PM)

I've always had good results with Intel cards and W2000 works very well with this one. And Intel is conscientious about continuously working on updating the drivers to improve performance and reliability.

  8. Comment - Office 2000 Service Pack 2 Available

    3.0 Beta 5 (Dec 1, 2000 - 10:34 AM)

You are correct, we can't open attachments like incoming faxes received by WinFax Pro or files sent by others in the company. Since we do not use Exchange, we can no longer use Outlook. I need to find a new mail client. I never liked Outlook anyway but it came with Office. If we stop using Outlook, then maybe we don't really need the rest of Office either. Star Office 5.2 is free and does just about everything that Office does.

  9. Comment - Office 2000 Service Pack 2 Available

    3.0 Beta 5 (Nov 30, 2000 - 6:00 PM)

*****WARNING - DO NOT INSTALL SP2*****
It disables your ability to open an attachment received by an e-mail using Outlook. That last update required you to save the attachment to your hard drive and then open it outside of Outlook. This SP now prevents you from saving or opening any attachment.
*****WARNING - DO NOT INSTALL SP2*****

  10. Comment - Office 2000 Service Pack 2 Available

    3.0 Beta 5 (Nov 30, 2000 - 1:12 PM)

I get the same number after upgrading. Why Microsoft didn't make the SP change the version number is anybody's guess. I think they just like to keep us off balance. As soon as we get used to their way of doing things, they change it. Why? So they can show us who is really in charge. Arrogance and more arrogance.
