  1. Review - Mozilla Firefox for Mac OS X

    2.0 Final (Oct 24, 2006)

    I don't like firefox.
But it's the best out there for the Mac, unfortunately :-/

  2. Review - Windows Media Components for QuickTime

    2.1 (Jul 28, 2006)

It's nice... but... it could be better.
I wish it would actually use WMP to open these things, like in Windows... because you can get more options:
It would be easier to view fullscreen, ... um... well, that's about it. But I do want that sometimes.
But this is the only thing available to watch videos in your browser, so it's just sort of necessary. But personally, I hate using quicktime to actually watch videos.

  3. Review - Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer

    4.0.1019.2378 (Jul 28, 2006)

I've been using this version since it came into beta... and it kicks ass. It has a lot of features that are way better than the old version, and incredibly useful. Especially the simple little bookmark feature that can be accessed over any computer.
My only complain is that you can't get your own google toolbar history in the dropdown ... you can get your google-wide personlized search history, and even google-wide search "suggestions" which are handy in their own way, but i miss my own toolbar-only history...
    but otherwise it's awesome.

  4. Review - Adium X

    1.0 Beta 3 (Jul 7, 2006)

I downloaded adium because it's the best thing for using AIM on a Mac (AIM 4.whatever for mac is way too outdated).
And Adium is a nice client and all, but compared to AIM 5.9 for windows, this sucks donkey balls. As far as I'm concerned, chat clients achieved perfection with AIM 5.9 (once you hack away the ads, and such).
AIM triton sucks. AIM 5.5 sucks. AIM 5.9 is the absolute only way to go.
See, here's the thing about Adium. It's based on GAIM, so they basically have the same problems:
You can't do everything you can with AIM. There are just some features for AIM 5.9 that have been refined and refined so much over the years with trial and error combined with a MASSIVE user base, that they're just... perfect features. And you can't use a lot of them in Adium. And also direct connect simply doesn't work. And that makes me VERY angry.
Anyway... it looks nice, and it's the best I'll ever get on a mac, but... I'd prefer the windows version any day. I guess that's what Parallels is for.

  5. Review - Google Pack

    Beta (Jan 7, 2006)

Usually I'm supportive of EVERYTHING Google does, but this is too much. If it were just the google products, like google earth, toolbar, talk, deskbar, etc, then I'd have given this a 5. They're all great products, and the ability to choose what you want is great...
But Google has started to wh*** themselves out to other companies... Adobe, Realplayer (the worst media player / media format out there, in my opinion), and trillian (worst messenger program ever.)
I just don't get it... Google used to have morals, and standards. Now they've just become the next AOL. *shudders*

  6. Comment - GameTap Network Needs Beta Testers

    Beta (Apr 4, 2007 - 10:49 PM)

this appeals to plenty of people. I've been a gametap beta tester since the last one... there's lots of great games in there, and since you're beta testing, it's all free! What's wrong with playing tetris or even crazy taxi once in a while?

  7. Comment - 'Slacker' Takes on iTunes, Satellite

    Beta (Mar 15, 2007 - 8:20 AM)

*sniff* Mmmm, the sweet smell of failure is in the air.
This is the kind of idea that makes startup companies/websites/whatever slip into oblivion.
6 months from now, people will have conversations like:
    "Remember Slacker?"
    "What'd you call me?"
"No, it was an internet radio thing..."
    "I see...."

  9. Comment - LG's 'Prada' Re-branding Enables Apple iPhone Comparisons

    Beta (Jan 19, 2007 - 1:18 AM)

    ANOTHER cingular phone???
That's the one and only reason I'm not going to buy the iPhone! That's the main reason MOST people aren't going to buy the iPhone (except for cost, of course).
What the hell are they thinking?...

That aside, it's good to see that this sort of technology is actually emerging in the cell phone market quicker than I thought... I figured it would take years after the iPhone's released before cell phone makers venture into touch screens... which in my opinion is going to be the future of portable devices.

  10. Comment - BitTorrent Buys uTorrent Application

    Beta (Dec 7, 2006 - 6:55 PM)

Azureus has always been pretty much equivalent with utorrent, except that utorrent is lighter....
As such, I have been a very loyal utorrent user.
The moment that I finish typing this post, I am going to download the newest Azureus and never look back.
