  1. Review - RegCleaner

    3.4 Build 401 (Aug 28, 2000)

I used to manually dig in my registry to delete the entries myself of certain programs that wouldn't clean all the mess they made in the registry. It was a tedious process that
required me to find all instances of the program and delete their entries. I still dig inside the registry in exterme cases, but Regcleaner cuts the time in half for nomal cleaning of the reg. And for the person who criticizes the RegCleaner's authors English...maybe it hasn't occured to you that English isn't their primary language. Some people.

  2. Review - Netscape Navigator for Windows

    6.0 Preview Release 2 (Aug 8, 2000)

Not too bad, but I still like Mozilla M17 better becasue it loads faster on my system. PR-2 loads itself on this computer like Win 3.1 running on a i486 /w 4 megs of RAM. I give 1 star for at least being able to run PR-2, unlike PR-1 which would crash as it loads.

  3. Review - Mozilla for Windows

    M15 (Apr 19, 2000)

Very slick interface. This is the first build I was able run with a little bit of problems, unlike M14 which flaked out on me each time I tried to run the file. Memory usage is a bit high at 21400K, but I'm sure this will be

  4. Review - ICQ

    2000a Alpha v4.25 Build #3120 (Mar 27, 2000)

Not impressed with ICQ 2000 Alpha except with the slick interface when you remove all the buttons and the toolbar. No problems with Win 2K, however, i'm not going to hold my breath on this one.

  5. Review - SETI@home

    2.03 (Mar 8, 2000)

I like the cmdline version. I don't care much for the gfx.
Win 2000 sure does a good job of letting 2 Seti@home instances run off one processor. Now, all I need to do is find a task for the other one. :-)

  6. Comment - Gates Pledges Big Money for AIDS Vaccine

    2.03 (Jan 31, 2001 - 1:18 AM)

Educating people is the simplest and most effective thing to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS. Trying to beat nature with technology is almost a useless cause, but not a lost one. Don't expect the vaccine to last long, if discovered and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if another variant of HIV/AIDS is discovered.

  7. Comment - ASCAP Ready To License Napster

Have you ever heard of the term "quasi-legal"?
Sharing mp3's is not illegal., but quasi-legal.

You assumed that he was going to share mp3's from Metallica, Sublime etc...etc..
For all we know, he can be distributing music that his friends made for everybody to hear.
"Sharing mp3's" is too vague of a term to be categorized as legal or illegal.

  9. Comment - AMD Turns Up the Heat

    2.03 (Oct 5, 2000 - 5:18 PM)

This tough competition from AMD is going to force Intel to lower its prices more. I still like Intel CPU's for SMP, but I'll be giving AMD a closer look for SMP. What the hell happened to Intel, it seems that they aren't doing well as they used to.
