  1. Review - musikCube

    0.7 Beta 1 (Jul 29, 2004)

Well, I just downloaded this program and I was really impressed. See, I needed something more than winamp. I needed something that I could take my mp3 collection and help organize and retag a lot of files all at once. I came across this program. So, I gave it a shot. I am quite impressed. It has a lot of nice features in it like batch retaging and a nice cross-fader. It's stable and it looks nice. It doesn't have fruity looking skins like other players do. Musik is a professional looking program and I can't wait to see what's in store for it in the future. If you want a good and extremely powerful player use musik.

I have tried Foobar. It’s pretty bad. First they have really bad navigation, which good navigation helps when you want to batch tag albums. There are no tabs for the organization (track number, rating, title, etc.) you actually have to go up to playlist and go to sort by…that is just a bad setup. Musikcube’s interface lets me retag everything in a few seconds. It’s easy and powerful. And it’s not obtrusive like Foobar. In Foobar all the text is grouped together and just looks bad. It’s hard to see what is going on. I can actually tell what’s going on in Musik cause it separates everything out nicely. And some other cool features is that you can make dynamic playlists and sub libraries. That’s incredibly useful. Foobar just lacks a lot of things for my liking. I would use winamp over Foobar and that says a lot.
