  1. Review - Apple iTunes for Windows

    8.0.2.20 (Nov 24, 2008)

"iTunes 4 adds the ability to share music among your Macs, play and encode AAC files, and view album art."

Time to knock that text out, methinks...

  2. Review - eBay Desktop

    0.9.140 (Feb 8, 2008)

Unless it lets you snipe, it's completely and utterly useless. As mentioned by others, there's really no advantage using this over just visiting eBay on the web via a browser.

  3. Review - Netscape Navigator for Windows

    9.0.0.4 (Nov 27, 2007)

Netscape updates just confuse people who would otherwise be perfectly happy with Firefox. Why use a "historical" brand name to describe what is just a copied build of a serious program with some decorations thrown on it?

Netscape was great, Netscape is dead. Long live Firefox.

  4. Review - Netscape Navigator for Windows

    8.1.3 (Apr 2, 2007)

For the life of me I can't see why they still insist on releasing these. I've had so many people come to me confused about Mozilla vs Firefox vs Netscape that you think they could just sort it out and release the one product. Netscape versions are always based on previous branches anyway - what's the advantage of using it over Firefox?

  5. Review - Gizmo for Windows

    2.0.0.162 (May 24, 2006)

There is a login bug that makes it look like the new registration doesn't work but it does - just do your registration, shut the program down, and then logon again. Works great and, unlike Skype, can be used with PGP plugins.

  6. Comment - Why did Steve Ballmer sell 12 percent of his stake in Microsoft?

    2.0.0.162 (Nov 12, 2010 - 6:52 AM)

"The poll expires on October 16, 2010 at Midnight PT."

Interesting deadline for something posted on November 8, 2010.

  7. Comment - iPod beaten in Japan by 30-year-old line of music players

    2.0.0.162 (Sep 4, 2009 - 4:28 AM)

The Japanese market is very different from others. Japanese mobile phones (and the mobile phone networks) are all about high-speed video on phones, interactive games, financial tools etc. To these consumers, having an electronic gadget like the ipod which basically does one thing - plays music - is just not enough.

  8. Comment - So it was a health problem after all, admits Steve Jobs

    2.0.0.162 (Jan 5, 2009 - 11:49 AM)

Agreed. Check out the symptoms which sufferers deal with reguarly (and there's no known cure, just management/stablisation):

  9. Comment - Mozilla updates its Fennec mobile browser alpha

    2.0.0.162 (Dec 30, 2008 - 12:56 PM)

"Yet another Apple fan boy giving Apple credit for everything that came after sliced bread."

Not any worse than Apple bashers trying to say that Apple hasn't had some pretty damned clever ideas over the years.

    Windows 95 = Macintosh 87

  10. Comment - Songbird 1.0 music player makes a landing

    2.0.0.162 (Dec 4, 2008 - 4:59 AM)

Most people don't use these programs for simply playing music - they use them to organize podcasts, which WinAmp won't do.
