  3. Review - Wonko's Uptime Client

    1.0.17 (Jan 7, 2001)

Come on dude! #1 client runs Win98??? And has been running it (without reboots) for 5 years?????

Win98 HASN'T been out for 5 years!!! Even if he did go to the future and get Win98 CD he'd still have to reboot it once since Win98 freezes after 180 days and patch needs a reboot.

Your protocol/database has been cracked, bro.

Excellent program. One complaint though... the display window gets "frozen" when I download some of the files. Program does not repaint until the file has been downloaded. I would like it to be more responsive so please add another thread for display please. FIles are never corrupted tho so no big complaints.

Shell has NOTHING to do with how the kernel loads the dlls. IE loads faster since HTML parser is already loaded when windows boots. SImple as that. Get SoftIce and see it for yourself... very easy to see how MS manages to be "faster" than the rest.

Mozilla has done an awesome job optimizing its load time and RAM usage given that it doesn't have the same access to win32 kernel as MS has.
