  1. Review - Maxthon (v2)

    1.6.3.80 (Aug 8, 2008)

I had used Maxthon in past and now have d/l it again to give it a shot and I really like what I see. It's fast and quite light on the resources too. Must give it a thorough spin for a few days though to make sure it holds up to its promise.

  2. Review - Yahoo! Desktop Search

    1.2 Build 1852je (Jul 7, 2008)

Not as good as Google Desktop which just blows the competition away. X1 is very good, but its strengths have not been integrated into Yahoo efficiently.

  3. Review - XMPlay

    3.3.0.5 (Oct 13, 2006)

Excellent piece of software. I read in a forum that its output was the best and now after having checked it out for myself I can attest to the fact that its true. Don't know why people keep complaining about its GUI/interface. After loading the playlist my media player sits in the tast bar or tray, while I continue on with my work. You need to listen to a media player, not watch it, not at least while listening to music. System resources too are way too low. The best of the lot right now and I have tried most of em'... Winamp, MediaMonkey, iTunes, Windows Media Player, Coolplayer, Foobar2000, QCD, VLC to name just a few.

  4. Review - J. River Media Center

    11.1.196 (Sep 8, 2006)

Used it and liked it. Sounds great and also does a whole lot of other functions like taking care of the images and videos on the system. However, I have not been able to get it to work with last.fm despite d/l and installing the Media Center plugin from last.fm. Having to move to Foobar2000 which is also a very good player and it does work with last.fm very well.

  5. Review - foobar2000

    0.9.4 Beta 1 (Sep 8, 2006)

I have just started using it after years of Winampm, MediaMonkey, J. River Media Center etc. I really really don't think the interface/GUI is all that ugly. Sure it could look a lot better, but that would probably add to the RAM and System Resources footprint. IMHO its an exceptional player and needs to be checked out without fail. I have not yet started with the plugins, but must say I am definitely impressed.

  6. Comment - Second thoughts about Google Buzz

    0.9.4 Beta 1 (Mar 16, 2010 - 5:02 AM)

Pray you would tell me (and others) what email you use that supposedly works as opposed to Gmail which is just OK per you (come to think of it my Yahoo and Hotmail are filled with spam even now) and Google Apps lets me host my domain email on it for free. Also I get POP and IMAP for free which was not even an option on Hotmail for ages and Yahoo charged a fee.

Search - Well Google is the only one that throws up any relevant results and both Bing and Yahoo do suck so I'm wondering what search engine you use.

Maps - Bing I tried and they sucked so much that I personally emailed MS to tell them about it. Google Maps works great on the PC and Google Maps Mobile with features like Buzz, Latitude is excellent and is only missing voice assist.

Chrome - Well Opera is the fastest but does not work on all sites. Firefox takes ages to load up and IE will have your system infected in no time. Please do elaborate what's your preferred choice in this area too.

@Carmi - While Buzz may suck or not... pulling down a company like Google which offers excellent products and services for free definitely sucks for sure!!!

  7. Comment - Microsoft Invites Mozilla Devs Over

    0.9.4 Beta 1 (Aug 23, 2006 - 4:56 AM)

Good, but would be better if MS gave other browsers pre-installed with Vista like Opera and Firefox, or IE did not come pre-installed as many people do not even know the existence of alternate browsers and just use the default IE which comes with Windows.
