  1. Review - Microsoft Windows Vista (32-bit)

    RC Refresh (Jan 14, 2008)

I uninstalled build 052 (I think) of SP1 RC to install this new build on my work desktop. Installation went flawless even through Remote Desktop and all appears to be working well. Network transfers are well up what they were in RTM, I'm happy to see this. Overall the system differences from the first RC build aren't too noticeable, but compared to RTM it is a dream.

  2. Review - Winamp Standard

    2.62 (Apr 15, 2000)

Been using Winamp since, well since I can remember MP3s. It does everything that it says it does, and has GREAT people behind it. I personally think that the sound quality is excellent, especially when paired with a Sound Blaster Live! family card.

Personally I don't think that "sonique" is as "unique" as it thinks that it is. With all the hype of it's release, and what did it end up being? Another meager MP3 player in my opinion.

    Just my $0.02

  3. Comment - Software Assurance punishes some loyal Microsoft customers, encourages others to skip upgrades

    2.62 (May 29, 2011 - 11:56 AM)

Where I've worked they'd rather pay a little more up front to roll it into Operational Expenditure at a known yearly value. It was far easier than having to consult with a magic 8 ball to figure out what they may have to spend as a Capital Expenditure years from now to upgrade.

  4. Comment - IE9 technology preview goes live, Microsoft claims scores 55% on Acid3

Because an ACID3 test is the end all be all of the Internet? You, sir, fail more than IE.

  5. Comment - Microsoft's Social Connector adds a bonus upgrade for Outlook 2007

    2.62 (Feb 17, 2010 - 8:22 PM)

Hmm.. the LinkedIn connector page says "Requires Outlook 2010, Outlook 2007, or Outlook 2003 required." So will 2003 be getting it to?

  6. Comment - Microsoft's Top 3 advances in Exchange Server 2010

    2.62 (Nov 9, 2009 - 11:13 PM)

The cost savings is real. We were one of the beta users of Exchange Server 2010 and having recently deployed Exchange 2007 within the year we found to deploy Exchange Server 2010 it would cost us between 65-70% less just in storage alone compared to what we would need to purchase for Exchange Server 2007 today. More impressive is that even with this cost savings it got us a 4th copy of our data, which today we only have 3 of.

  7. Comment - Google Sync brings push Gmail to iPhone, WinMobile, S60

    2.62 (Sep 22, 2009 - 4:21 PM)

They're simply using the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync protocol (EAS) which anyone can license from Microsoft. They're not using Exchange Server itself. I think this speaks volumes to the strength of EAS in general now that both Apple and Google have licensed it from Microsoft.
