7.0 Beta 1 (Dec 10, 2000)
I am a fan of WS_FTP and have been using it since I was introduced to the Internet back in late '97 It has been for me the most robust client for what I have to do (which includes linux cd downloads and web site building) with it's default resume function and simple interface its the client I have been going back to after trying MANY other failed clients but version 7 doesnt allow me to import 6.x sites :( many of which I cant remember the passwords of, that means I have to re-create them, all for a newer interface (the only improvements being DIS-intergration of explorer.exe, I only use classic anyway) I hope that when it releases we will be able to import all of the custom ini files that the new client doesnt seem to use anymore.
PS: In spite of all the CD's of Linux releases I downloaded I'm still using Windows and still dont understand Linux..
6.0 Final (Nov 14, 2000)
sorry but as I write this (in NS6) its showing up in win2k task manager to be using 42,6mb of my system memory compared to the 7.2mb iexplore.exe (explorer 5.5 sp1) is using. I'm un-installing this monstrosity after I submit this form. I do have 256mb of physical RAM but thats no excuse to suck it all up in one gulp.. When I build my brothers new computer, it will have an initial 64mb and will be using IE 5.5 not Netscape, the proof is there to see my friends..
and Internet Tools 5.5 Service Pack 1 (Nov 4, 2000)
wow! is all I can say, Page rendering has improved vastly! I winced at installing a newer IE5.x after my experience with buggy 5.5.. now it has improved in such a way that pages load faster than IE5.01 sp1 (on win2k anyway) haven't and won't be testing it on 98 cause thats my games platform :) I give the thumbs up for this release

I would only like to say that Adware SHOULD be a combination of Share/Ad ware, give the users a chance to register for a small fee to block the ad's, that seems to be a new trend taking off now.. Bullseye is another prog that offers this function and it is the best Share/Adware I have ever seen.

that leaves around 15% of Americans open for the Beta test =oP

Its fun to see that more than half of you do not even know what you are talking about.
Microsoft probably does have a hard-on with all of the publicity it's getting about XP but is that any different than Win98? WinME? or Win2k? from what I remember EVERY build of these operating systems were leaked the very day they became available. XP has not seen the same.. Microsoft is pissed that XP is getting leaked we can see this because as yet NO version of build 2469 has been cracked.
but then I look around on other sites and hang out on IRC, I dont have my head stuck up my arse here so I can be party to the Windows/Linux flame wars you all seem to enjoy here.
My advice: get your facts right and while your at it get a life people who love Linux, good luck to them, people like me who prefer Windows, same goes for them too lets not be lame and flame ppl because they prefer something else
My 3 cents

Reading below just proves my own opinion of Americans.
They are: unresponsible, money-grabbing, big-headed people.
This question goes out to Canadians! then you have the Americans flying the flag and threatening with lawyers and the first ammendment! I live in Europe where you get what you pay for, with every purchase made there is a "Terms of Use" and a Goverment regulated body, if it is made illegal to use a cell-phone in a hospital, people simply abide by that, here in Holland it IS illegal, and there are plenty of public phones and phone desk's to support the "needy"
I agree with the one posting (with exception to hospitals) where a person would have to enter a code to place an emergency call if located in a jammed area, but like all things, if such a technology was put in place, there will also be a cost. Canadians need to vote for what they feel is right. Ringing cell-phones in public places is unfortunately the most technological anti-social behavior ever concieved. I turn off my cell-phone when in the movies (or EVEN shopping) I think it is highly embarrasing to spoil someone else's evening out in that manner. I do not need to feel as important as Uncle sam who can run through my backyard fall over and sue me for it. Americans are like small schoolboys, they have this massive pile of sweets (America) but do not know how to use it properly, they just stuff themselves full and blame someone else for the belly ache.
I wont go into previous Americans Battles of war, or Gulf war mis-haps or coffee spilling lawsuits.. look at yourselves first USA and good luck Canada with a solution that can accomadate everyone..
And Yes, I cant stand the french, Lloyd

Neowin.net
I posted a while back a conversion for the IE5.0 and up toolbar it is achieved using Microgarden with our bitmaps strechted across the toolbar it uses virtually no memory (as it only skins the toolbar) the conversion I have actually replaces the toolbar to exactly the same one used on IE6 WinXP build 2428
you can find this here: http://www.neowin.net/reviews/op_luna.shtml
not only can you skin the IE toolbar, but there is a pack that will change windows to look like XP too, if your interested..
It's better than installing a (un-stable) beta version of IE - Windows Update blocking, form errors, 6.0
hope this helps,
Steve

Betanews was my homepage for all the latest news too, in fact when Betanews teamed up with Efront i decided to make my own windows (beta) info site because I missed the simple layout i grew to love, now a well visited site, even Betanews will not acknowledge my existence (being a fan for over 2 years it hurts when youre not even worthy of a reply by email) This news item caught me off guard as I have a tendency to post news well before Betanews (now) I hope Betanews gets its spark back soon because it was onxce a great site to visit
PS: Betanews was not my homepage anymore (before my site) because of the time it takes to load your page!! I have 1mb DSL and it takes forever
