11.0.5721.5146 (Jan 17, 2007)
Anyone care to comment on any possible speed increases for this release (from previous posts its sounds unlikely but I thought I'd ask)?
0.8.6a (Jan 3, 2007)
Though I can't find any documentation or confirmation, this release is probably a security release relating to the recent security advisory:
http://www.videolan.org/sa0701.html
The 0.8.6a release at the bottom of the page is a called a 'bugfix release'.
8.0.0 (Dec 5, 2006)
Tested on Windows Vista Beta 2, with ie7 and FF 2.0. Zeon 2.4 1gb of ram.
The netopsystems installer took approx. 70 seconds to unzip (using 90,000+ k of RAM). Afterwards, the installer asked 2 questions and installed.
It does seem to load a little faster now (approx 2 - 10 seconds depending on whether the DLLs are still loaded in memory).
The browser plugin keeps the sidebar clutter down, and the selection / page tools seem to work well enough in ie7 and ff 2.0.
I give it a 4 because they still haven't figured out that there's plenty of software out there (apple 10.4, http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/ etc) that creates basic PDFs. Just reading PDF files isn't enough to evangelize PDF, they should bundle the printer to create PDFs. They should spend their money on the people who need to create cool fillable PDFs and what not.

I wonder if microsoft embedded a 'kill switch' in this one?

there's a youtube link and a rapidshare link in the youtube description... why read what others have to see when you can see and play with the code yourself.

So much for built-in wifi security. WEP is trivial, WPA isn't perfect, and WPA2(802.11n) may not be same WPA2 in 2008. I expect to see a lot more info and tutorials on running IPSec on public wifi networks soon. Its only a matter of time before easy sniffing tools are in the hands of the script kiddies.

Technology Pundit? Nothin' personal, but if BitTorrent is ruined by shares throttling the bandwidth, then why ARE people using BitTorrent right now? Its pretty obvious that it works. 2 replies:
1.Sure its not user-friendly at the moment, but I'm sure whatever Warner Bros client they end up using will be nice and easy to use and to throttle your bandwidth.
2.I'm also sure that there will be a credits system in place to create incentives for people to NOT throttle their bandwidth, much like the recent Apple 10.5 Software Update / iTunes credits rumor going around right now.
