  1. Review - BOINC for Windows

    6.5.0 (Development) (Dec 21, 2008)

Boinc is an excellent tool for contributing to real research. If you spent $700 on electricity for not shutting down your computer then something is wrong with your computer or your home wiring. Compared to the cost for research foundations to perform these calculations, it is far more effective to distribute these processes to idle computers. If you don't want to help then that is your choice. If you do, then Boinc is a great way to contribute resources and do your part to help out.

  2. Review - TaskInfo

    7.2.0.244 (Oct 16, 2007)

I've been working with PC's for close to 26 years now and I've had the opportunity to work with a lot of utilities for monitoring processes and freeing up memory. I've got to say that TaskInfo is the best that I've come across. I actually used the evaluation version for close to a year and then decided that it was really worth the $ for the license.

I would still like to get the author to add a modification that will show the total free ram as a number in the task bar (Similar to MemTurbo). But that's a minor issue.

  3. Review - Google Earth for Windows

    3.0.0762 Beta (Nov 20, 2005)

Amazing! You give something away for free, with mind blowing functionality, the ability to seamlessly show satelite images, and people fuss about the resolution or not having real-time. Be patient! Let the technology catch up. Besides, I don't think Google wants to go through the expense of launching 24+ satelites for full earth coverage to provide a product FOR FREE!

I continue to be totally amazed by the capabilities of this application. I recently used it to create a map of all the RV parks in a specific area. And as a freelance professional writer, I just had to write an article about Google Earth.

  4. Review - OpenOffice.org for Windows

    2.0 Final (Oct 20, 2005)

Woot! This just keeps getting better and better! The only reason I currently use Word is because my publisher requires it. BTW: Word crashed on me yesterday, just sitting there by itself. I went for coffee, came back, and it had crashed. I've yet to see any problems like this with OO. Some of my User Guide projects have massive amounts of screen shots. Word can't handle it. OO works fine.

    Congrats to OpenOffice.

  5. Review - Avira Free Antivirus

    6.32.00.07 (Sep 21, 2005)

I've been using AntiVer now for a couple months and I'm very impressed. I've given up on Norton, due to it's conflicts with other applications. I tried AVG, which was okay. But AntiVer found issues that the others didn't and with the included scheduler, I have just as much protection as I had with Norton. And the price can't be beat!

  6. Comment - The $4 iPod Nano Fix

    6.32.00.07 (Sep 28, 2005 - 10:21 PM)

I wonder if this process would work on my Palm screen? I would love to get the scratches out.

If someone knows then drop me a note.
