  1. Review - Mozilla Firefox (v2) for Windows

    2.0.0.4 (May 30, 2007)

Yes it does work with Vista. I have been running Firefox on Vista since beta 2 and never had problem with it.

In my experience it is not the core browser itself that is usually the problem it is the extensions that people load into Firefox that cause the problems.

  2. Review - Microsoft System Center Essentials

    2007 (May 3, 2007)

Basing your review on the size on the download isn't exactly what I call a thorough review of the product nor is it particularly useful. So I'll give it a four as well to balance up these zealots.

While I haven't tested this particular product yet. I have found similar products like Small Business Server very useful for their target market.

Problem also is product releases at MS are controlled by the marketing people who don't actually have a clue about the product they are selling so that is why you see terms like "proactive and unified" So at least I'll give that to the Linux and open source gang at least the programmer who wrote the program releases it and therefore probably knows what the damm thing does.

  3. Comment - This is big: Oracle claims Android violates its Java patents, sues Google

Way to go Oracle, you really are trying to become the most hated tech company around.

  4. Comment - Android usurps iPhone in market share

    2007 (May 10, 2010 - 4:47 PM)

I have to love all the negative scores on the comments here. Don't tell me there is a Mac Fanboi out there having trouble accepting the news.

Personally I have found having an iphone has been an interesting experience but I can wait for my contract to expire so I can have look at Droid phone.

  5. Comment - Has Apple gone too far?

    2007 (Apr 16, 2010 - 8:30 PM)

Well I'll confess, I bought an iPhone, would I buy another one? Absolutely not. The device and its interface are great, you really can't fault it, er too much. But the whole proprietary lock in thing with itunes is just ridiculous. People hang crap on Microsoft for being proprietary and monopolistic, they've got nothing on Apple.

  6. Comment - Aussie Parliament Wants To Tighten Net Censorship

    2007 (Sep 21, 2007 - 4:56 PM)

"BTW, is pornography illegal in Australia?"

Well here is the great irony. It is illegal to purchase X rated material in all states of Australia except for the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). The very same territory where the Federal government sits to enact these types of laws. Nothing like having two sets of standards really. Maybe they are just trying to protect their market share. *chuckle*

  7. Comment - Apple Patches QuickTime Yet Again

    2007 (May 1, 2007 - 8:36 PM)

"I must have missed something....when did betanews become so anti-apple?"

Sorry I don't see this as being anti-apple, to me it looks like a simple story reporting the facts.

I think we are being a little too precious about our apples here.

The bug relates to a piece of software which can be found on a PC or MAC, given that it is a extremely common piece of software it is a valid story because this flaw could have impact on millions of computers.

This was the first I heard about so thank you for bringing it to my attention betanews.
