  1. Review - Winamp Goes 3D

    1.4 (Dec 28, 1999)

    This plugin ROX.

Just thismorning I was looking at AOL's creation and watching how it chewed through the avalable resources on my computer and I thought to myself "How can this chew resources more effectively? I have a huge ammount of spare computing power, and I would just love it if I could use it ALL to play my mp3s".

Then now, when I jump on BetaNews my prayers have been answered. To complement the bloatware of AOL somoeone has brought out an OpenGL visualisation front end.

    YAY!

Thanks again betanews! I'm going to go get ICQ now :)

  2. Review - The Bat! Professional

    1.38 Beta 4 (Nov 26, 1999)

I appologise for my previous statement, it was a typo :) thats what happens when you think about one thing and type another, I ment to say TheBat ... IS *shareware*... if you put that in the statement makes a lot more sence.

Also, thanks to Sashka B. for the changes list, it was much appreciated.

TheBat is it IS freeware and nags with a countdown screen counting 30 days using the Realtime clock from the date of install.

  3. Review - The Bat! Professional

    1.38 Beta 2 (Nov 22, 1999)

Thebat boasts features on par with some of the most popular mail clients such as eudora, netscape, or outlook express.
TheBat boasts an easy to use, good looking interface while packing many advanced features only ever seen before in pegasus mail.

I have used this client for about 2 months now, moving away from pegasus due to TheBat's natural support for PGP. I have had nothing but success with it and would recommend it to anyone not in bed with Microsoft and forced to use OE :)

My only complaint with TheBat is it IS freeware and nags with a countdown screen counting 30 days using the Realtime clock from the date of install. Anyone with an intimate knowledge of regedit can keep this on 1 day, but I wouldn't condone any of that sort of activity :)

My only other complaint is, with the absance of a README.TXT or a WHATSNEW.TXT, the question remains to be answered, what has changed since 2.36?

  4. Comment - RIAA Sues Napster For Copyright Infringement

    1.38 Beta 2 (Dec 9, 1999 - 7:06 AM)

    Can anyone spell Media Hype?

MP3s are only targeted because they are new. I am sorry, but in my opinion the mp3 community has not COST the industry a DIME.

Sure, they have got a little less profit from it, but that money was not theres to claim as lost.

Anyway, my personal opinions aside, there is a large act of piracy which is "costing" the RIAA more than they can ever claim from MP3s. That is VCRs. Under current laws every person who owns a VCR has broken the law. Did you know it is illegal to tape shows off the TV?

Well, they do, but they don't enforce the law coz everyone else does it. I LOBBY THEY BE FORCED TO LAUNCH A LAWSUIT AGAINST ALL MAKERS OF VCRs BEFORE THEY GET s***TY AT THE MP3 INDUSTRY.

    Just my 2c.
