This is the same cross platform (MS & Nero) plugin that is needed for ANY version of burning rom. just as wmp needs an mp3 'plugin'. you may just have it already

This is for Nero6 not 7. WMA is great. It has the best quality and is used lots of formats. And on top of that it's free and cost no money to use it. This is the best, way better then Ogg Vorbis or MP3.

The software is very good!
But... why is there so many stupid people out there...?

jrepin: you should review the nero plugin and rate that, instead of rating the WMA format itself... whether wma is crap or not, nero made the effort to make a plugin for their software.

WMA is bad. It has bad quality and is a closed format. And on top of that you need to pay a lot of money to use it. The best thing you can do is avoid it and use Ogg Vorbis or MP3.

It gets three stars because it works. Personally, I prefer to listen to something other than the modern day equivalent of transistor radio sound, even on my portable. However, I do recognise that there are many lemmings out there who will blithely chase this garbage that attempts to pass for an audio standard just because it's included with Windows or they are too brain-dead to learn about quality lossless compression. So, do feel free to pursue that exercise in mediocrity but I would ask that you not have the chutzpah to criticise those who call a spade a spade - after all, it only relects on you. As to ogg portables, firmware is in the advanced stages of development and many a vendor is expressing interest - this is quite understandable since they won't have to pay any royalties to the owner of the format, unlike the situation with *any other format out there* including wma and mp3.

It works well, and does what it is supposed to do.
You should keep your petty vendettas away from software reviews.
BTW- Which portable player supports OGG? Which support WMA?

Stick with MP3... We don't need another closed standard... MP3 (closed) and Ogg (open) are more than enough...
