CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack) is a filter pack specifically built for playing anime. It has been assembled by some of the most knowledgeable people in the anime world, and one of the primary design goals is to play as much possible with as little as possible. It attempts to be as unintrusive on your system as possible.

Felmens and another....
The CCCP not one "simple codec packs". This is originally for the playback of anime fansubs products. The CCCP is developed and maintained by members of various fansubbing groups.
The anime products encoder members working in a setting that is definitely viewed this codec pack. Any encoder/codec that was use can be just like, but it should play in CCCP.
However, while playing everything... But basically the target group the anime fans. :)

Now, here is maybe a stupid question, but why would I want to use these instead ov VLC for example? Vlc can also play everything I throw at it. Since there are alot of you out there that actually uses CCCP you must know something I dont :)
Reviewing 2012-12-23 Beta (Dec 27, 2012)
Been using for quite a few years now, has everything you need as a normal user, media player classic is included as well but is not required to install along the codecs.
Reviewing 2011-10-29 Beta (Oct 31, 2011)
If you're looking for a codec pack, use this. It installs a minima amount of software that will allow you to play anything you throw at it. No 20+ MB packages with hidden adware.
Reviewing 2010-10-10 (Feb 8, 2011)
When Betanews tells us that CCCP supports Windows XP, Windows 2000 and Windows Vista they forget to tell us that this new version also supports Windows 7 too, it happens again and again that they forget that there's a Windows 7 and it has been here for some years now. I think it's very annoying, and I suggest everybody, who will download software from Betanews, to check by themself about the software supports Windows 7 because you cannot be shure. I have tried it several times now on Betanews that they forget to tell that the software I was about to download, also supports Windows 7. But anyway I think it's a good site. CCCP is one of the best codec packs I know.
Reviewing 2010-10-10 (Nov 24, 2010)
Most full featured codec pack period. Install this and you won't have any problem playing back any file and as an added bonus you don't end up with the mess the K-Lite packs do to systems.
Reviewing 2010-09-25 Beta (Sep 28, 2010)
Five stars. CCCP is the finest codec pack, but you knew that.
Also: AnthonySPT knows what he's talking about, some is simply opinion.
On W7, I like MS' codecs (less CPU), & FFDshow may only look slightly better.
I still love CCCP for many reasons, filters, etc. & use FFDS sparingly.
And: There is no "2010-09-25" beta, at least officially, or that I can see.
Reviewing 2010-09-07 Beta (Sep 9, 2010)
note to AnthonySPT
you do not know what you are talking about...
I replaced all of the codec's in windoze 7
with ffdshow and others
the codec's that come with win 7 are crap
I have a 52 inch monitor and now everything is high def and
smooth as butter
(it was a pain in the a!!!) you have to change the merit of your codecs
and lower windoze codecs merits.... I also had to manually delete the MS files.... but it was worth it.... high def now
Reviewing 2010-05-21 Beta (Jun 6, 2010)
One of the better codec packs...
Warning/Note: If you are using Windows7, be careful of what codec packs you install, and ONLY install the codecs that are NOT already available in the OS.
Even this package turns on FFDShow for a lot of things Win7 already does.
The reason it is IMPORTANT to not replace the Win7 codecs that are already in the OS is that the built in codecs are usually GPU accelerated or offer themselves to your GPU/Driver for acceleration when possible.
Installing 3rd Party codecs to replace the built in XVID, H.294, VC1, etc will put the load back on your CPU, often be more blocky/less quality when decoding, and if you are using a notebook will cut time out of your battery life.
So be careful and only install specific codecs/filters that Win7 does not already provide.
Reviewing 2010-05-09 Beta (May 10, 2010)
This is a great codec pack, but I'm tired of the betas. K-Lite makes new *final* releases faster than CCCP comes out with betas. Is a fast release cycle inherently a plus? No. But K-Lite seems to manage it without messing anything up the vast majority of the time (there have been a few hiccups in the past, but quickly corrected), and this helps them keep up-to-date on fixes, performance enhancements, etc. This is especially important as some things have changed with Win7 vs. Vista and, as far as I recall, CCCP hasn't had a release since Win7 came out, or at least a follow-up release to fix any Win7-related issues. Are there such issues? Yes, some. Rendering method defaults are generally advised to change, for example.

Reviewing 2009-09-19 Beta (Sep 21, 2009)
I tried this pack after getting tired of how many extras the VistaCodecPack installs. It had a few gliches with settings, but that turned out to be how the HomeCinema edition of MediaPlayerClassic was setup. Once I solved that problem, it works just fine. It plays a ogm file and others without problem. So why not give it a 5?
Well, the file association part of its wizard won't work and some of the setting choices seem a bit vague.

You will never see Gabest splitters be included in CCCP. They take more CPU, like to pass all audio tracks to the audio decoder even if you only listen to one of them etc.
Haali Media Splitter is overwhelmingly better than the Gabest splitters.
Reviewing 2008-12-05 Beta (Dec 8, 2008)
Lack of the:
-Gabest splitters (MKV, MP4, OGG, AVI & MPEG) [contain only old FLV splitter, which need to be updated from http://sourceforge.net/p...1&release_id=541233 Guliverkli2 project (developer of KLCP...)] adds support to metadataless files and H.264 files in FFLV container
which for me is very needed to open indexless, metadateless or other broken files with other player than MPC (which I dont use...)
-newest ffdshow... (old contain security hole http://security.bkis.vn/?p=277)
for me better is KLCP ;)
but for many ppl which dont know much about PC, CCCP will be good because install only this what is needed...
4/5 for me...

CCCP is a very fine codec pack for playing anything and everything A/V, recommended by many enthusiasts and developers (over competitors like K-Lite).
Catchpole's a fool and a troll, plain and simple. Why he decided to make everyone at FileForum--specifically CCP users--aware of this fact is unclear. (Lack of brains and/or genitalia is probable.)

not worth the time. This is not a stable or even functional codec pack. Most of my dvd rips would play but the color was all distorted, all of the files i attempted to open had some kind of problem. Stick with only the codecs you need, and download them from the actual source and not someone's little codec bundle. I have a small pack that i use that i from time to time check for updates. These would be divx, xvid, and mkv. then i use the real media, and quick time alt. with those 5 there is nothing i cant play. I also prefer the gom player. but thats just me.

Reviewing 2008-01-24 (Jan 29, 2008)
Excellent!
It was listed as being primarily for anime, but I can't really find any video that it doesn't play. It's best to uninstall any extra codecs before installing this. I like CCCP because it uses a minimum of codecs; I've found no reason to install more and too many can create issues.
It works with many players, but I love the configurability of Zoom Player.
Other players:
KMPlayer, WMP11, WMP Classic
(WMPC is best installed WITH a codec package rather than as a single EXE file for purposes of Associating video files with it. You CAN use KMPlayer with external codecs but I think it's best to use KMPlayer as is and use an external codec package like CCCP with another software program.)

WHAT EVER YOU DO DONT GET CCCP NOW. The versions on their site now installed a "spam harvester" it reaches out to a 198.54 address which ping pongs from China to South Africa. South Africa which has been on Dateline on NBC. The harvester has specifics to search and send out cc, banks, email settings etc its a hunter. My system was solid til i got the cccp from their website and installed it.
You dont have to believe me just scan your system and check your firewall for a 198 address leaving your system.

@ hondaman: you know, the entire point of this codec pack is that it has very little impact on your system. So, you don't have to download any outside player if you don't want. Seems like a better answer to me.
