Download
http://www.feedreader.co.../FeedReader314Setup.zip
extract the contents to a folder on your USB device
Create a file called feedreader.ini in the same folder
Launch
It automatically creates a new RSSENGINE.FDB in it's own data folder no matter where it's launched from. Update ssl's first

2) is BS
I've been using web.feedreader.com but the options are nil under opera.
use ".\feeds" or whatever name you want for the FR subfolder (enclosures download dir).

## BEST RSS READER FOR WINDOWS, HANDS DOWN ##
As a previous loyal GreatNews user, I got really frustrated with the author's refusal to update the program/featureset. GreatNews was actually an awesome reader and still is, but lacks incoming feed notifications, multiple select, direct link to browser, etc.
Enter FeadReader. MY GOD -- it's like they read my mind and knew exactly which features were important, and which weren't.
This is HANDS DOWN the best reader so far as of 5/9/09.
There are two marked disadvantages of Feedreader compared to GreatNews:
1) High memory usage
2) Not portable
Now, regarding #1). Some people care about memory usage, but I really don't. I've got a ton of memory in my CPU. What I am more concerned about is layout speed and both GreatNews & Feedreader are excellent in this respect
2) Not portable. You cannot use it on a USB stick, but you can install Sandboxie and force it to save in specific folder on your D:\ drive like I do :)
Bravo Feedreader! Please keep your program free, fast, and NO ADS!!
Reviewing 3.14 Beta 2 (Feb 28, 2009)
The best desktop rss reader imo, there's a bunch more going on then what first meets the eye concerning filters and feed managing. The only reader that gives it a run for it's money is RSSOwl, but that one still needs to iron out lots of kinks. The only negative thing I have to say about Feedreader is that it's memory usage is quite high at times, although it seems to have improved slightly with this release.

This OR the stable version is way better than greatnews. Feedreader allows for a direct connection and gnews does not. Plus this gui blows gnews away with it's much cleaner gui.
Update openssl and good to go
