GFI MailEssentials for Exchange/SMTP is a server based anti spam & email management solution for Microsoft Exchange Server & Notes/SMTP servers. Spam is caught before the mail server, no need to deploy client software. Its advanced Spam detection technology is based on: Content checking of body and subject for spam keywords, checking mail headers for typical spam practices, and checking if the sending mail server is on a third party black list such as ORDB. Admins can also set-up their own blacklists, as well as reduce false positives using the automatic whitelist feature.
- FIXED: The SPF filter was crashing when processing the SPF records of domains whose IPv6 records contained more than a specific number of IP addresses

The combination of GFI spam/av apps, when added to the Exchange server, add terrific functionality and control that is not provided or afforded in Exchange alone. I would give GFI 10 stars if I could. If you're running an Exchange server, get GFI, you will be glad you did.

If this product is checking ORDB for spam, it is poorly designed. ORDB has been shut down for many months now.

No problems here. Smooth installation and it made a huge difference in our organization. Give it a little time and you'll be very happy with this product.

I've been reviewing spam filters for our organization and I cannot believe the comments below. Of course it is nice that it has great antimalware capabilities but it does a really poor job on blocking spam! Out of the box it is horrible and I refuse to explain why the need to train the filter continuously. A Bayesian filter is kind of useless nowadays because of Bayesian poisoning and other spam tricks. Look further if you need a out of the box solution that doesn't stress your server CPU.

Great software! I'm using it on Exchange Server 2003 about 2 years and I'm realy satisfied. Together with GFI MailSecurity (with Kaspersky plugin) make strong security suite.
