PRGrep is a combination of the standard search tool provided with Windows and the Unix "grep" utility. It searches for a word or string in files and displays the lines containing the search data. It is very easy to use integrated into the Windows Explorer. It offers a lot of advanced capabilities such as recursive searches in sub-directories, filters on file names, various search modes (plain text, all words, one of the words, binary data), export results, direct editing of found files, search inside compressed files, and more.

Reviewing 8.5 (Apr 15, 2006)
Five stars for the idea, minus 2 for being a 6.4Mb download and inefficiently coded. I'd say PowerGREP is the most comprehensive of this type of program, but for $149 it's not even worth buying. WinGREP would have to be my recommendation. It isn't free either, but it's only $30.
