REAPER is a powerful but sensible Windows application that lets you record, arrange, edit, and render multi-track waveform audio. It provides an extensive set of features, but is a very small and lightweight application (the installer is less than 1 megabyte, and includes many effects and a sample project).

REAPER supports ASIO, Kernel Streaming, WaveOut, and DirectSound for playback and recording. It reads WAV, OGG, and MP3 files, and records WAV files. You can arrange any number of items in any number of tracks and use audio processing plug-ins (DirectX and Jesusonic). REAPER also supports volume, pan controls and envelopes per track, multi-layer undo/redo, and user creatable color themes.

• Fx window: numpad keys are now always passed to plug-ins

great program, works very well with asio4all and m-audio products, I use for amature webcasts and recording local rock show.

This is a really good alternative to Cubase. I will give it a 5 when the bug that causes the program to freeze with my usb-midikeyboard is fixed.

The guy really works on this program so I think the fact he does it for the OS most of us use is a lousy reason to give it a low score.

The spirit of quality shareware shines through this magnificent application, priced at 40$ nothing can't compare price/feature/quality/support wise to Reaper. Programmed with talent,love and dedication from the Internets No.1 Punk!, Justin Frankel, which gave us Winamp and started the P2P revolution with Gnutella, Reaper is destined to become sooner than later THE Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) app. I wont detail the vast array of features and love this program has, i advise you to visit the official site at http://www.reaper.fm/ and give a good look especially at the forums. In conlusion, The Best True Shareware program for the Windows and soon the OSX platform. Excellent value for all the factors,superb support from the author. Very highly recommended.
