Radio Stream Player allows you to stream online radio stations without having to run a bloated player, or having a internet browser window open. It offerers a nice handly menu with access to the station list in your local language.
Yes
- The stable release is finaly here, it contains many killer new features like Tags, Searching for stations on a site and Global hotkeys. Not only this but many minor tweaks here and there that will make it better to use, if you want the full list head over
Reviewing 1.5.0.11 (Jun 23, 2008)
Crashed several times on me. .NET framework crash. Some stations don't work with it.
Reviewing 1.5.0.11 (Jun 18, 2008)
Ah ... what an improvement.
The interface is still ugly, but I usually minimize it anyway after starting it and selecting my station.
And now more that 100 stations are available. There are English, Portuguese, Dutch, French, Swedish, and Norwegian Stations listed (and perhaps more ... is Batanga a language?). Music formats are many, even Classical has been added.
The digital sound, of course, is excellent.
There are many other players freely available, some better looking with more Radio (stream) choices than this one. Spider is an excellent example, and I prefer it to this one. Spider has more features such as an equalizer, and can be used to play files on your computer. But Spider can be imtimidating, its features hard to find, and can be more difficult to use. The average user may not even realize that internet streams can be played.
That said, I will continue to use Spider most of the time, but this one will remain on my computer for further use. I like it.
Reviewing 1.5.0.7 Beta (May 2, 2008)
I looked at this program again. It now has a better interface, not nearly so ugly as it has been in the past. And it's mix of stations has improved. I am, however, disappointed that I found no Classical Music stations on the list.
It installed quickly, but the installation did cause a minor computer crash ... though the machine did not require a reboot. I'm not sure what that was about. Perhaps it was a conflict with my operating system, Vista. I do, however, have UAC turned off, so there should not have been a conflict.
I do not intend to use this player in it's present state, so I will uninstall it. But I do think it shows promise for the future, so I shall continue to watch these pages for updates, and shall try them as they come.

I need a web UI to remote control something like this on a HTPC.

It works, but stations are pretty crapy. BBC News doesn't even work.Anyway, nothing great and surely not deserving anything close to a 4.
