Creative drivers for my audigy 2 platinum stink. I really like kx drivers, although they are much more difficult to master (but worth it in the end)

oh how much i hate Creative!
these drivers are awful, together with the new Creative Player 5 which i installed equals in complete chaos in my pc and anger in myself.
Once you install the drivers, they start a life on their own, literally!!!.
The old and new driver/player start to work in two different parallel universes or something.
With your card and your speakers in the middle.
At times the calibration and all the other settings just shift from one driver to the other, unbelievable.
And cracking and popping, which was not an issue with my card now is pretty severe.
I really hate Creative!!!

The Artist - well the reaosn you have a good dedicated soundcard is for something called asio - lowest response time drivers - great for apps like cubase + ableton live etc... really makes a difference.. fl isnt a very intensive app so i doubt audio driver would have that much difference.. but anyone with an audigy appreciated newer better updated drivers.. :)

aside from being able to Hardware-Accelerate sound in games...

WHAT'S THE REAL BENEFIT OF HAVING A SOUND CARD???

i'm really asking from a point of ignorance, not bashing anything. Will it just be "better quality sound"? My aac music files sound crystal clear, and i can perfectly use Finale and FL Studio with my integrated sound... CAN ANYONE ANSWER ME?

I have a three year old Audigy SoundBlaster board and these drivers installed as smoothly as any drivers I have updated for all my equipment. The sound is crisp and full. No problem here with this update.

I’ve had problems with previous installations and had to revert to older drivers but this one installed without a hitch. So far, I am a happy camper. I can live with 2 reboots. As others have said, it is nice to see updates on my slightly aging Audigy 2.

Installation problems? Not here. I followed directions best I could on the (super easy?) install process.

You could always manually uninstall the drivers, restart, DriverClean™ in safe mode, restart, install the new drivers, restart if you have problems. That's *thr33 restarts for those counting. The automated requires *two, and all it requires is you to press Okay and Yes a few times.

Anyone with XP who installs drivers regularly knows you will need a few (annoying) restarts, that's just how it is. These Creative drivers are fine, I would just ask for better changelogs to know why I should install. Five of five for still supporting Audigy 2's with solid drivers.

What is this 1995? Holy crap, it makes you, uninstall, reboot, just to install these?

why is it I can do a fresh install of XP, install the audigy drivers and they work on the fly, but to update them its like pulling teeth. I've seen so many installers now that uninstall the old driver set and install the new on the fly all in one shot.

I'm not even bothering with these now..

I wrote an article about this on my blog about Sound blaster. The experience that I had was nightmare. The only good thing that works is my credita card every 20 minutes ! Unless Creative Lab will take us the customers more seriously and not by talking then I will return to Creative Lab! http://www.kolbo.net/kolboblog/index.html (under "lift off")

Not ALL Creative Audigy cards supported. Check the Creative site.

Audigy SE is not supported with this for example.

Solved all my issues with BF2.

It would detect my card until I installed the old drivers, then install this driver.

They work fine enough...no problems here.

photonboy

photonboy reviewed v2.08.0002 Beta on Sep 23, 2005

I can't install this. After trying to update my computer does not detect my card.

The same thing happens trying to install new drivers in 64-bit Windows. To get audio working with x64 I had to change the date and install an earlier version with an expiry.

Creative needs to sort out some problems I think.

THILE reviewed v2.08.0002 Beta on Sep 23, 2005

So far running fine with my Audigy 4 PRO. I think creative are so slow with driver updates, and why can’t they make one big installer that has it all.

After a reinstall, you have to install old drivers from the cd, and then install updates after updates.

Whhhhyyyyy Creative why?

Creative coders still don't get the idea of multiple cpu environment, from the beginning Audigy drivers didn't work with more than one cpu. The sound is skipping due to poor synchronization within the drivers (of course Creative's tech support blames everything from my machine to my cat) - it's just sad hearing local mp3s skip (and no, they play just fine through an old AWE64). If you have more than one CPU stay away from Creative.

These drivers fixed the issues I was having with Cubase SX. The ASIO drivers have been dramatically improved. I can now run VSTi's without disabling ACPI. It did however take a long time to finally get these drivers. I completely recommend this update for any beginning musician who wants to use ASIO applications.

Oh god some people are idiots... because you don't own a audigy your going to come and review the audigy drivers with a 1? Man... and I thought people had reached the lameness limit.

Anyway these drivers (for me) just improve the perfect. Never have had any problems with my audigy, so the list of fixes is very nice to know. No problems at all with any games, MP3, and so forth. If you are one of the people who have problems give these drivers a shot, and for those who think 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' go to hell :-D
