Winamp Deskband is a toolbar docked to the taskbar that is fully configurable and fully skinnable. It comes with a built-in sleeptimer and playlist resumer. It also supports system-wide hotkeys for almost everything. Furthermore, it supports multiple languages and it allows you to play your bookmarked files without clearing your playlist. It can be used to control Winamp 2.x and Winamp 3.0 and even Windows Media Player.

I like the piece of software; though i'm not totaly happy about some of it's mechanics. SirDarius i've seen your WDB, it's pretty decent, though it lacks features. You won't happen to know what he was going to change the name to would you?

This desk band is a good and featureful soft, even though I think the resizing of the taskbar is a bit of a problem...

if you're looking for a simpler alternative to this plugin, check the Winamp Desk Band I've made: http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=82271

Please note that since my plugin has been first released in 2001, I'm not responsible for the names similarity.
The author of Winamp deskband promised me he would change it when it would be complete...

I have usesd Winamps Tray Control and an external sleep timer before so I'm happy to have a better solution now... if they only could change this taskbar-reszing-thing ._.

    I like this very much.
    It has great potential.

I wish I could control its length in the task bar and that it won't change the size of my taskbar.

Definitely crushes other 'control' plugins. Does have a stability problem.. Works pretty well with 5.01 (since other's are having problems, I won't update). Problem #1: The instability seems to appear after the bar has been running for a bit (and a few songs have played). Once you try to move the bar, explorer will crash and not come back automatically. On NT/2K/XP/2003(?), hit CTRL+SHIFT+ESC to get task manager. Select File, New Task, and run explorer to get your desktop back. Problem #2: The ID3 tag reading and tooltips seem to take a really long time and hangs explorer while updating the toolbars. Otherwise this is a great app probably shouldn't be running on Servers, especially in while it is still BETA!!

Great idea and implementation for the most part, but it also has instability issues. Could use features like customizable/variable-based title/time scroller, and why not start winamp when you press the "active media player" button?

Absolutely brilliant. This application puts all other winamp toolbar and hotkey programs to shame.

This is a great little program. I used it all the time when I had winamp2 (despite my friends telling me just to make WA always on top and then in 'bar' mode). However with arrival of winamp5 it has lost its use for me. Winamp5 has the Nullsoft Tray Control now, which does the same basic job as this does (does ne1 actually use more than play/pause, last and next?)

I've used this plug-in in the past and liked it. It still has some missing options that were already touched upon by others. As for the longwinded comment about how QCD already has this option and winamp5 should have it built in as well, all I have to say is QCD's playlists suck but you don't see me complaining about it, rating it one star do you.

This program is exelent, has all the options everyone needs, maybe has a couple of bugs, but works flawlessly.
you can avoid problems with the taskbar changing the size of the buttons or rearranging the bar, but u need to do it only once.

Review should be limited to one post alone. Popular programs, no matter how bad they are, repeatedly get the usual yahoo's that make 1,2 or 3 posts with just "yeah!", or irrelevant 'problem' discussion with the same 5 star vote. In this very thread, some people actually report bugs and *still* drop a 5 star rating on the program.

And how many inteligent people are then needed to put in a decent review of an app that didn't work with X version of winamp, had tons of bugs, was clunky to use and further creates more uneeded bloat when other Mp3 playing apps already have it's options, awarding this a sensible rating until the overall rating looks like it should be?

To conclude, QCD player ( quinnware.com ) already has all these options fully customisable at the touch of one single button. Only Winamp and their AOL 'bloat for the clinically braindead' owner creates further bloatware to fill in a feature the original application should have in the first place.

One more bug, you cant select to have the program display the time elapsed instead of time remaining, we need configuration options here ;-)

My only problem with it is that when you seek to the next song, it takes longer to load, than when it was not installed. When I uninstalled it, the problem was remidied. Other than that, an excellent piece of software. I hope this is fixed because I like to load up my entire library, put it on shuffle, and keep hitting next song until I get something I want to hear.

Brilliant software. I've been looking for a program like this for years. I eventually settled on Global Audio Control app, but easily decided to switch to this. My favorite feature is that it allows me to use certain number pad buttons (+ - *) as hotkeys without interfering with my keyboard's standard horizontal number keyboard buttons. There's no other winamp hotkey app that I know of that gets this type of keyboard conflict right. This program does have documentation in its program folder even though someone below posted otherwise.

    Awsome program.

Indeed it takes a bit of tweaking, wich there is a fair amount that can be done.. great!

"It's button's need resizing or something" hrm.. maybe in preferance look at the "Specify button size" duh.

for the love of god Kylde i am so sick of reading your idiotic reviews. just because you're too damn stupid to unlock your taskbar and drag the toolbar out to the right size doesn't give you the right to whine like a three year old. there's nothing wrong with the program... in fact it's a cool idea with a lot of neat little caveats... i don't see anything counter intuitive with it... the only thing that might be helpful would be tooltips on the buttons.
