  1. Review - openSUSE

    11.2 (Nov 12, 2009)

For those putting down Linux, you haven't used it enough. It has come a long way and still needs a little work, but once you understand it, it is so much better than Windows. You have to have an open mind.
Personally openSUSE isn't my favorite distro but it has a good that it does well.

  2. Review - Xion Audio Player

    1.0.115 Beta (May 5, 2009)

I've tried this player a couple of times due to the high praise it gets and each time I'm disappointed. It has no features (at least nothing that works easy for me). I can't load my media library easily and shuffle the list. Maybe I'm not that bright, but I really couldn't figure this player out very well.
I don't understand the hype when there are a lot of other choices that do more, are easy to follow and are still free - Winamp for one.

  3. Review - Microsoft Windows 7 32-bit

    Release Candidate 1 (RC) (May 5, 2009)

One person said it looks "Fisher Price"?? I don't get how that is, since that was always the look of XP to most people. To be sure Win7 is small increase over Vista visually but you have to go beyond that to understand it.
I've used the beta off and on for the past few months and I find its quite fast. This coming from a steady Vista user. As much as I liked XP, I like Vista a lot (though I did have to turn of UAC which works much nicer in Win7).
Win7 is what Vista should have been. Those who want to keep with XP sound to me like they are too much in the comfort zone and don't see what Win7 can do or haven't really put it through its paces.
Like anything there are things to dislike, but overall its a nice smooth fast operating system.

  4. Review - TweakVista

    1.5 (Feb 21, 2009)

This program is worth the money for those who don't want to mess with registry settings or don't know how. Plenty of useful information included as well. An even better value when you already have ObjectDesktop since its part of it.
I rarely use it, since once I set things, that's all I need for awhile. Still its organized very well and makes figuring out what changes will do pretty easy, and simply restore function.

  5. Review - WindowBlinds

    6.4 (Feb 11, 2009)

"trynow" mentions about moving the start button, etc. You can do that with other programs like DesktopX and ObjectBar to name just a couple, but Windowblinds can't do that. WB is meant to skin the windows and taskbar, so therefore it can't really do much about the placement of some things like the start menu.
For what it can do its an amazing piece of software and one I just do not do without. The skins available for it overall are of excellent quality. This is a must have program for those who like to change things up every so often.

  6. Comment - If Google hasn't killed the yellow pages yet, Seattle law could

    6.4 (May 6, 2011 - 9:11 PM)

I had found a place already on the web to opt out of getting phone books. I have no idea yet if it works since I had signed up after I moved recently and already got two books!
Now that the web is more available, I never use the phone book.
But while I don't think it's up to a city to make a law, there should be easy opt out available for them, and other junk mail I'd rather not get.

  7. Comment - Craig Mundie questions whether tablets have a future -- does he or Microsoft without them?

    6.4 (Mar 30, 2011 - 10:19 PM)

I don't believe Tablets will go the way of netbooks, hitting it big and then dying off for the most part. However I do think that in the future we will have the "room" as the pc. Everything is connected now and more every day (TV, blu-ray player, pc, game system and more).
The tablet will simply be one of the ways we either interact with that system or take it with us on the go.
I also don't believe Apple is the future. I just find them too closed a system for my tastes. Hopefully Android can keep its act together, though WebOS seems decent as well.

  8. Comment - Do you like Google's new Chrome logo?

    6.4 (Mar 21, 2011 - 7:18 PM)

While in the grand scheme of things the icon doesn't really matter too much, why mess with it? It looks rather boring now. The other one at least grabbed your eye a bit.

  9. Comment - Who will pay $600 for XOOM with WiFi?

    6.4 (Mar 18, 2011 - 7:24 PM)

way too much for me. I'm looking at the Nook Color or even Pandigital for my needs. Around $200 is reasonable for Wifi. I don't want 3g as I don't want to be stuck in a contract and more of that junk that comes with it.

  10. Comment - Xoom Corp. sues Motorola for obvious reasons

    6.4 (Feb 24, 2011 - 7:51 PM)

I say this should help them a lot. I hadn't heard of them before either. The only possible confusion might be the Xoom.com makes the device. Otherwise who cares.
Although I tend to see a made-up word as more protected than conventiional words, so from a legal standpoint they might have a leg to stand up on. But it only going to increase the awareness of the Motorola Xoom and somewhat Xoom.com
