The best of the best. I've been using this in the SecureCRT/SecureFX bundle for years. Yes, it's expensive, but the capabilities are unbeatable for professionals. The scripting and tabbed interface make difficult and repetitive jobs a breeze.
Expensive, but worth it, if you have a need for a full-featured professional product, this is it. I wouldn't be without it. Also, top notch support over the years, and responsive to customer requests for new featured. I've had many I suggested added.
Call me a satisfied user.

Slash the price in half, and this would be perfect. A hundred bucks just for a terminal client software is too expensive for anyone but medium to small businesses.

I've used SCRT for a few years now (since version 4) and will continue to use it. The scripting is absolutely incredible. Imagine having to transfer a file from a one server to a gateway server to an internet ftp site, then to your pc -- a couple of times each day every day. SCRT lets you script that and make into a button.
It's just awesome.

Well, you're right about the speed here and I can also add that the resource consumption are higher than putty's: 15MB vs. 5MB on a fresh connection (minimum lines in the buffer).
Still I'll rate this high because, regardless of the low speed and hight memory requirements, is still the only suitable tool due to better sessions management screen and estra-session automations it provides.
(Is very hard to use putty when working with 195 Unix machines in my case).

I do like SecureCRT features but performance wise I have to agree with TomekLutel. Terminal speed is much slower than Putty, even with fast lines (24Mb).

SecureCRT doesn't come close to Putty, Putty is much faster, try
time cat /var/log/somebiglog
and look at "user time"...
Putty is almost 2 times faster on 1Mb link, no metter of compression settings.
Home and End keys works correctly by default, unlike in SecureCRT.
The same with line wrapping.
Putty wins hands down, and its free.

I bought this. Its the real only option for someone who manages lots of boxes. A bit steep in price, imo, but still deserves 5 stars.

As someone who uses SSH regularly, this program is a must on the Windows platform. Putty just doesn't compare.

Most of my work is on Unix platforms and I rarely get a chance to work on Windows. SecureCRT comes very close to Konsole. But, it has a few bugs with closing connections and tab navigation.

Basic and unauthenticated HTTP proxy support is a feature of the 5.2 betas.

A buddy of mine uses this daily and swears by it. I've tried it out myself and yea it's good, but considering I need to do this kind of work maybe twice a month, Putty will do for me. This isn't $99 worth of great to me. I'm giving this a ding for the cost alone. It just does not seem justified to me.

IMHO, it is still the best telnet/ssh client out there.
About the pageup/pagedown problem, here is the work around.
In the session properties :
Terminal > Emulation > Mapped Keys >
Map a key > [Page UP] > VT_PREV_SCREEN
Map a key > [Page DOWN] > VT_NEXT_SCREEN
and you're good :)

The best. Others, like putty, are good in a pinch, but this program makes putty look like a playschool client. The price is a bit steep, but its worth every penny if you use a program such as this daily.

This program is the best SSH/Telnet client for Windows BY FAR. I just wish it was freeware. Putty is a freeware alternative that is pretty good, but I would rather pay for this product.

SecureCRT is a great program and makes it very easy to get a lot of work done. The great news is 5.0 now includes Tabs!!! If you are like me, you will no longer need to search through the 5 different shell windows you have opened to try and figure out, which one you actually need. 4 wasn't a great improvement over 3, but I think 5 justifies an upgrade.

Stick with 3.4.6. I'd give 3.5.6 a 4/5 rating. This new version is extortion to get loyal customers to pay a lot of money. Message to vandyke - PuTTY is free - so you better your customers them better.
PuTTY also has working PGUP/PGDOWN, and many many other things that do work properly that dont in SCRT 3/4. I log into many Unixes, and PuTTY works better in most.
I like SCRT 3.4.6 better than PuTTY overall bcause of the connection manager.
I think this program should be tabbed as well, and should facilitate broadcasting commands.
On a side note, I benchamrked SCP vs. PuTTY pscp, SecureFX, Tatu-SSH.COM SSH client, winSCP, etc. You would be suprised to know that the more you pay for the SCP implementation, the slower it is. scp is free/opensource, and can pull about 9MB/sec on a 100mbit line (fastest possible is about 11MB/sec) Candyke only gets about 2.2MB/sec.

I still think that PuTTY is better. It might not look as nice but it does everything i want it to and it can connect to my shell accounts using SSH2 and RSA, something SCRT cant do. Apparently, and this is according to the SecureCRT Help File, they cannot add this feature for some reason?!

Is anyone else disappointed by the lack of new features in this release? Seems more like a 3.5 than a 4.0. They certainly haven't justified asking an upgrade price for this version (existing 3.x users must upgrade to a new 4.x license).
For one, why can't we have a tabbed interface ala. Netcaptor and Opera? I have lots of connections to lots of machines open all the time, and while the Activator helps manage these somewhat, a tabbed interface make it so much simpler to manage all of these connections (IMHO).
Also, how about multi-host control? Like being able to type in one window and having the commands sent to multiple different hosts at the same time. Extremely powerful for managing clusters of servers. AFAIK, only Sun's cluster management software does this at the moment. Not rocket science to implement either...
Otherwise, this is still the best terminal program on the planet. I don't think i'm missing out on much by sticking with 3.4 for the time being though...

Great new version, however they changed the way SecureCRT stores sessions so I cannot use the old ones from 3.0. Unfortunate, but this program is too perfect to complain. Complete customization makes SecureCRT the best Telnet and SSH client by far.

Unfortunately this one is not downlodable from Europe, so I still have to use the not encrypting CRT (or my Linux computer for save communication). If you have the choice use this intead of the normal CRT, it's a security bonus you shouldn't miss at all!

Personal favorite for telnet and ssh. Very functional and easy to use.
