Microsoft Fix it Center finds and fixes many common PC and device problems automatically. It also helps prevent new problems by proactively checking for known issues and installing updates. It helps to consolidate the many steps of diagnosing and repairing a problem into an automated tool that does the work for you. It personalizes solutions for your device, showing you only what pertains to your hardware and software.

it wont work it says encountered unexpected error must close so i cant install, anyone know why?
Reviewing 1.0.100.0 (Jul 27, 2011)
Could be helpful to some, pretty basic stuff. No problem installing it- those whose systems had a hiccup should check their systems, not blame the software. Has a certain usefulness but not very advanced.

It seems MS are working on a fix to fix the fix for the fix it centre. Be patient, Rome was not built in a day.
@softapo7 - Not necessarily, it may not like legitimate & perfectly running certain hardware & or software combinations.

I get get same error today that the guy below got months ago. I have windows7 x64. "Fix it Center Setup encountered an error"
"An unexpected error has occurred. Please close and try to run Setup again later."
allot of crap!
Reviewing 1.0.90.0 Beta (Feb 3, 2011)
This is hilarious: when i run the setup on XP SP3 I get an error:
"Fix it Center Setup encountered an error"
"An unexpected error has occurred. Please close and try to run Setup again later."
I tried again later, same problem, should I try close to midnight?
C'mon M$, do I have to wait on a release to fix the "Fix it Center"?
Reviewing 2010 1.0.0080.0 Beta (Jul 6, 2010)
I don’t know why BETA, it’s default for Windows 7.
With Fix It Center Microsoft scans and runs a real analysis of the registry and registry related system errors online with their high performance computers that home users don't have and then offers patches, i.e. they attempt to restore the corrupted registry settings to the healthy default, where it is still possible. Fix it does it automatically, alternatively you can choose manual fixing.
There are many other freebies from other developers to fix the registry by restoring the default settings, but only if you know exactly what you need 'cause they don't scan for errors, neither do analyze online, the way Fix it does.
I only gave 4 stars, however, as it is not perfect yet and I expect much more. I hope they will do it.

Well I guess it's ok for those who really need this kind of thing.
It said I had problems with things I didn't have any issues with at all.
I looked at the info for the power shell, I don't want it.
It's been uninstalled along with the silverlight update and the framework 2.0.
Just to be on the safe side, I did a system recovery after uninstalling all of that stuff. I'll wait for the release & try again to see if it's something I really need on my machine.

It worked as advertised for me, corrected an IE8 freeze problem, which apparently was due to a realplayer problem.....
Reviewing 2010 1.0.0080.0 Beta (Apr 16, 2010)
It is a beta, expect it not to be perfect.
Don't pirate software and you won't have to worry about... it might be spying on me...oooooo paranoia.
Oh, and it works on Windows 7 and:
Windows XP SP3
Windows XP Pro (64-bit) SP2
Windows Vista
Windows 7
Windows Server 2003 SP2
Windows Server 2008
Windows Server 2008 R2
Yes, Windows 7 has built in troubleshooters, but this puts in one spot and makes it easier to find for certain people. A little hand holding for the one's who need it; you know who you are.
Raton is right; there is nothing wrong with Powershell, learn how and why to use it, before you complain about it.
Everyone! Have a nice day!:)

"Other complaint was
having to install Windows
Powershell"
And that is a "complaint" exactly why ?

this is nothing more then a tool to see if your running a pirated version
Reviewing 2010 1.0.0080.0 Beta (Apr 16, 2010)
Doesn't Win 7 already have this builtin and this is only to give the same function to XP and Vista, etc?
Reviewing 2010 1.0.0080.0 Beta (Apr 16, 2010)
Works fine, but doesn't always fix the problem (as is the case with many one-app-fix-all apps). Other complaint was having to install Windows Powershell.
It did fix my "CD can't read or write media" problem, but failed to fix the "Video freezes or crashes in IE or Windows applications", which only occurs when I run Bittorrent (of all programs).
I'll give it a 4 for now.
UPDATE: Had the opportunity to use it on another PC. It fixed a printer issue.
Also, increased rating to 5 since it actually hasn't given me any problems. Very stable and pretty much works as labeled.
And to the persons who posted about my powershell comment, I just didn't have any use for it on the PC I was testing Fix It (my personal PC). Most home users will agree here, seeing they won't have much of a use for it either. Powershell itself is actually a very useful program once you learn it (something I just starting to do!)
Reviewing 2010 1.0.0080.0 Beta (Apr 16, 2010)
It's about time Microsoft started a project like this. My only beef is that it could have been cheaper so they only get four stars. ;)
It has been a couple of years, but still the same complaints. No indications how many folk have used it, much less what kind of actual benefit it provided.
