Microsoft Office 2003 Service Pack 3 (SP3) represents a major evolution in security for Office 2003. It further hardens the Office suite against potential attacks and other security threats. This service pack also includes fixes that have been previously released as separate updates for Office 2003.

I downloaded this program onto my PC in no time. Infact the time elapsed was 5.5 mins. Please ignore HansUpp because i went through none of the effects he/she described. I am typing up my reports already on Microsoft Office 2003, obviously HansUpp has A. a RAR converter or B. Is a terrible liar and needs to stop =].

Office works fine, but the install reset all my folder views to "Icons". Points off for d***ing with that.

I installed this update on both my Vista computer and my XP computer without any problems.
HansUpp, like most Microsoft haters, I think you hope for problems with Microsoft software. Karma man. Karma.

Stay away, this has the Curse of Micro$haft on it.
After installation I can't access my documents and the resolution in MicroSnot kb articles only refers to modifying registry keys which don't even exist in WinXP.

This like windows XP sp1... either wait for next SP or just go to 2K7.

if your software is running just fine, don't mess it up with updates, after updates, etc and etc.
there has got to be a point in time that updates should end.

Amusing to me that MS is blocking it's own formats. MS should block ".doc" and ".xls" as well and get it over with. Watching the downfall of this company is also amusing.

@ the artist:
installed SP3 - no issues at all with the old files. Word, everything from PowerPoint (pot, ppt, pps..) and Excel % Access: runs fine.
Don´t know if SP3 is really necessary, but at least it works.
Minor issues: 2 msp files of 117 Mb in installer folder, and a few temp files - easy to delete.

It's a 5 years old office suite and still being supported by M$.
A company that sometimes I admire. 5 stars !!!
the artist reviewed vService Pack 3 on Sep 18, 2007
Don't install it yet!!! WTF a Service pack that almost BREAKS my software!
Read about the known issues! there's a known issue (a feature really) where you can't open nor save some rare documents made with Office 2003 SP2 and older just because of some policies, and you have to edit de registry for a workaround! Check if you use such files before diving into SP3;
EXTENSIONS: .wk1, .wk4, .wj3, wk1 FMT, .wks, .wk3, wk3 FM3, .wj2, .wq1, .fm3, .wj1 - .dif, .slk - .ppt, .pot (whoa!), .pps, and .ppa '97
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938810
It's no BS! if you use any of this extensions... or pps made with word 97, save again with word 2003 sp2 before installing SP3. SP3 CAN'T BE REMOVED INDIVIDUALLY.

@Project51: dear, to Microsoft, it's not "a 5 year old suite". It's the Office suit version that is massively in use today. Office 2007 has had little adoption yet. Are you as stoopid as to believe today that MS cares about you?

Some Guy ... there are at least 3 words in the English language that are pronounced the same as the pronunciation of the number "2". They are "to", the word you used incorrectly, "too", the word you should have used, and finally "two", which also would have been incorrect, at least in the context of the fragmented sentence you wrote.
Please learn the difference so you don't look like a dunce next time you write.

Wow, a french install wont use the english update. GO FIGURE! Thats why they make language packs. Dont download it from here if you want another language, use microsoft update and get the proper language. Worked great here.
Eden7c reviewed vService Pack 2 on Sep 28, 2005
I spent 2 hours last night trying to process it...
English pack does not install on my French version ( In Canada) and the French pack does not install either.
Get a message of unproper version on both packs tried the fullpack version uncovered from both US and France websites to no avail...
Was lucky to be able to send an error report to MS... ( one for each version) hey...
No stars for me.

Worked fine here, shows as Office 2003 Sp2. Almost all MS Office service pack updates require the installation disc or source, especially if it wasn't a "complete" install (e.g. custom install). If your version was installed via a network drive (e.g. corporate server), make sure your connected.
thezelda reviewed vService Pack 2 on Sep 28, 2005
Outlook 2003 SP2 used up HUGE amounts of CPU doing anything. Had to un-install and go back to Outlook 2003 SP1. Can't believe MSFT doesn't test anything.
slepax reviewed vService Pack 2 on Sep 28, 2005
My instance of Microsoft Office was installed via a network drive which is not available at the moment, so I had the cancel the execution of the update.
Now I can't open any Office at all, keep asking for the initial install directory every time I try to open MS-Excel (strange but all other applications works fine),
seier reviewed vService Pack 2 on Sep 28, 2005
I tried installing this by downloading the 100MB full install, then I tried via OfficeUpdate.com, then I tried via my Microsoft update system tray icon, all failed. I even chose the shutdown method where it closes everything and then installs one's updates. It says it can't update win.ini, I checked the file's attributes and there's no reason for it to be locked. Lame-O! I'm glad to hear it worked for others, that way I know they're not complete dumb-sh..s.
Cheers,
Christian

You only need to download and install this if you have the full bells & whistles version of Office 2003 with InfoPath & OneNote etc. Otherwise just download the 3 updates that have been issued: Excel 2003 Update: KB834691, Office 2003 Critical Update: KB828041 & Word 2003 Update: KB830000. You can even slipstream these 3 updates into your existing copy of Office 2003 if you know how.
