I am changing my prevous 5 star to a 1 star review now. Just a warning to anyone who does buy the Panda software. They will spam you to death with their emails. I decided not to renew because I'm now using the free Microsoft Security Essentials, and I am getting nothing but spam from Panda to renew. Even clicking their link to remove the spam, does not stop it. Now I have to make a gmail rule to filter and delete any email that comes from them.

You can buy an OEM version of this from many places. I bought my 3 pc version of this from ebay for only $9.
I would agree, I would never even pay over $20 for ANY antivirus program.
Plus, none of the antivirus programs are going to catch everything. They all catch something the other one doesn't. People brag up Avira so much, yet I've seen trojans on computers with Avira running. I like the interface of Panda very much, its not cluttered and looks nice, along with daily updates. Its much better than it used to be... and the screenshot shown here looks totally different than what this 2009 version looks like.

I looked on the website and the trial lasts one month.
A 12 month subscription costs US $49.95. A bit pricey for one pc.

Actually anyone who has actually tried Panda within the past year knows its no longer bloated like it used to be. Its actually light on resources compared to many other scanners.

As stated previously this is not freeware! at best this is shareware! once the trail expires (doesn't tell you when) you cannot receive the automatic updates. hard to uninstall and not free.
As far as Panda AV goes: it found spyware even after running lavasoft and spybot s&d. so at least its a good anti-malware product.

I have just Installed this [Panda Antivirus 2008] wonderful piece of Security on all 3 of my System's! I thought that I would never Uninstall SpySweeper, and Avast Home Edition but Panda has changed my mind. It will be my method of keeping my System's free from Virus's, Malware, Spyware and Adware. Furthermore, I have visited some un-savory Sites to put it to the test, and it stopped Malware from being Installed. Meanwhile, I have ran several AntiSpy stand-alone's behind Panda's sweep, and there was nothing to show. I am pleased!
Thank you, FmlyRnn

Anyone who thinks Norton or Macfee is good needs a head exam. I run a computer repair shop and Panda without the Firewall is the best Antivirus/Antispyware program out there. It's not a resource hog, it runs fine on all OS' even a Win98SE with 64MB RAM has no issues with resources.

Panda Antivirus is great for killing viruses and adware, however if you are using Network Attached Storage devices forget it, it will halt access to your NAS. Panda tech support on this issue is pitiful. They acknowledge the issue and do not have a solution to the problem nor will they assist or provide a refund for their malfunctioning product! DO NOT PURCHASE IF YOU USE AN NAS DEVICE!

This is a great Panda product for the Titanium version. I have had all the other Titanium versions and I have really seen where they have cut down on the resources. For those that are having issues with this software or other Panda software need to get their computers checked first for problems and not blame the software
k3of4 reviewed v6.0.0.0 on Nov 1, 2006
Absolutely horrid resource hog. As is tradition of Panda Software.
iNsuRRecTiON reviewed v2006 5.02.01 on May 20, 2006
Hey,
yes, it's a RAM and resource hog.
The high and huge resource consumption is very bad.
Even only TruePrevent 2006 (without AV+Firewall+AntiSpyware, etc.) uses more resources and memory as KIS 2006!!
Maybe the behavior analyses in Panda AV Titanuim 2006 (incl. TruePrevent 2006..) is good and their detection protect you, but if your compare the bloat software and their resource utilization with detection and usefulness, you will get bad and this could be only a 2..(tend to 1..)
Look at the price..79 EUR for Panda AV Internet Security 2006 package (incl. all..) compared to 39 EUR for Kaspersky Internet Security 2006 (KIS 6.0), with very low memory and system resource usage/consumption (RAM utilization below 10 MB! and max. 10 MB..) and one of the best, if not the best AV scan engine and detection! That's very bad..
Btw. Kaspersky AntiVirus 2006 (KAV 6.0) cost only 29 EUR and consumes even fewer resources..
But I can't see why Klusternisse, called NOD32 crapware..That's very bad and very unfair! It's not right and true!
I used both KAV 2006 and NOD32 2.5.
Both really great, but Kaspersky is with the 2006 product line a little better than NOD32 2.5 now..
I own a 2 year license of NOD32 and NOD32 overall's rating was better than KAV 5 (right 5, NOT 6.0..!).
NOD32 own the best heuristical AV scan engine known so far, yes better than KAV (at the moment..), see http://www.av-comparatives.org for independent tests and test results!
So maybe this will change now, but there will be an NOD32 v3 soon.. :)
But Eset's NOD32 definitely isn't crapware or bad AV app!
best regards,
iNsuRRecTiON

Panda av is is one of the best
although their are some major problems with it it does like hogging cpu and ram
its not that configureable its one of thoes idotware
programs .install and let it decide
so far as virus killing its good
its worth running the free scan one their webbsite once in a while
use KAV but not KIS couppled with outpost firewall it pretty strong ..
i'd say use Kav as your primary Antivirus
and peroidlly use Panda active scan ,by logging on to their webb site and downloading the active x version
Klusternisse reviewed v2006 5.02.01 on May 20, 2006

One of the best for viruses, trojans, and worms.
I'd stay away from their suite, but then I am not a fan of anyone's suite.
For a great AV, this is on my short list.
wincement reviewed v2006 5.00.83 Beta on Aug 12, 2005
Panda has always been a resource hog and very difficult to make compatible with other software IMO.
It is especially difficult to keep the system running reliably if you have ANY other security software (firewall, anti-spyware, etc...) running as well.
I give it a 4 because it is very effective at finding viruses. Imagine that: an AV program that detects viruses. But because of its many compatibility problems, I can't give it a 5.

Absolutely the best!! Panda rules. I am the registered client for the couple the monts and I most satisfied with product. This beta has some small bugs which is normaly for the beta but I`m sure that it will be fixed soon. Interface is not like on beta news screensoots , interface is new. Download it and don`t give it up if something goes wrong. In most cases your comp is couses that crashes (maybe i`ts alredy infected) and not Panda. And it is preaty cheap if you buy beta now!

I admit, resources usage is a bit high, 25 MB of RAM and more CPU usage than other AV programs...
BUT it found more trojans, virus and spyware infections than every other program I tested! GREAT!
krakokainer reviewed v4.0 on Dec 1, 2004
Try the free trial and you'll see what an abomination this is to uninstall.
Next to impossible.
I give it a two because any anti virus is better than non, that is...if you are that desperate.
Pixelsmack reviewed v4.0 on Dec 1, 2004
Yes it takes up a lot of ram, but it uses many apps to keep your system safe. There's a reason it catches 99.99% of all virus new and existing!
This is the best overall AV app I have used. Kerpasky, even in it's new clothes, still is funky to use. Panda's interface and options are very streamlined and intuitive.
Panda's support has been helpful but it is not as robust as it could be. Delays in replies to simple tech questions and installation issues back when I first installed it were some I remember. But now that the program has been updated numerous times, those issues have never returned. And yes, they do keep it up to date constantly.
Panda caught all the latest worm virus my spam plagued inbox had. It then flushed them out 100%.
I would suggest if you truly are at threat (lots of spam or you download those "special files") you should run a serious AV app like this and not the mainstream kludge that barely cuts it.
bourgeoisdude reviewed v4.0 on Dec 1, 2004
Don't get me wrong--PAV is great software with some of the best AV and spyware protection available, but my God, even viruses don't take up this much of my resources. Just the client end for coorporate edition takes up over 40MB of RAM, and I'm talkin version 2002! We can't afford to upgrade our client computers every single month so our AV doesn't bog it down. I've used over 12 AV programs: Norton (Symantec), Mcafee, AVG Antivirus Professional/Free, Sophos antivirus, PC-Cillan, and several other now defunct AV company's antivirus programs--this is second to PC-Cillan on detection, but by a landslide the worst performance drain of any.
petiot reviewed v2.05.03 on Nov 30, 2004
Good software overall. Clear, simple, and effective. however, i cannot understand how an antivirus can suck up to 70 meg of RAM!!! the previous version of panda were bad, but this is a shame for the developpers. Annoying pop up windows all the time and constantly trying to connect to http (what for? not the update i disabled it. check out your firewall).
arvind reviewed v2.05.03 on Aug 24, 2004
Fileforum should update this. The new version is 3.02....which is much more stable and also contains the new TruPrevent technology. I had given a try at the version listed here a couple of months back and it screwed up my system totally. BUt this new version kicks ass.....caught 3 viruses which even Kaspersky 5 failed to detect......highly recommended.
just_testing reviewed v2.05.03 on Feb 27, 2004
I've tried Symnantec's antivrirus before. But I like Panda Antvirus more. It's faster and require less resources then Norton.
Very easy to install and manage. Works smootly andI have never had any problem with it.

WORST PROGRAM I've ever seen and even worse company to deal with. I bought and installed this on my comp and immediately had problems, email tech support and got no help at all. Removed the program and lost the ability to check my email with outlook express. Spent more money on a comp expert and eventually had to reformat my hard drive. Took me weeks and about 20 emails and phone calls to finally get my money back. AVOID PANDA AT ALL COSTS!

Hi,
I agree agree completly with NikMan's opinion. But I have to mention, that Titanium has a slight problem with The Bat! E-Mail-Client. It's hanging up while sending Mails with zipped attachments. But Panda is working on it. On the other hand Titanium works fine with Mozilla and Outlook Mail Clients.
NikMan reviewed v2.03.02 on Sep 6, 2002
THE BEST AntiVirus. Much better zthan Mcafee and Norton. Both are bloadted and slows down the ocmputer too much. Panda does it good with nice (not too nice) interface and its awesome.
I have tested all and I must say Panda will rule!

The programs good. it did catch one trojan that i had on my system that I had no clue about and norton did not warn me about. However theres a big error at startup with this if you have Norton 2002 antivirus installed... least for me there was . the error was i could not boot up win XP... i log into my screen name for XP then loading.. get into windows and it just hangs there... only way to fix this is if you delete panda... I would recommend this download if you do not have norton installed...

It's OK but I prefer Panda Titanium for ease of use. And Titanium is cheaper. The viruses are the same for both I guess.
