Publisher's Description
FinalBurner is a freeware alternative to expensive CD and DVD burners. This application enables you to create data, audio, DVD disks and burn them onto any type of media, such as CD R/RW, DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD DL. You can also create an ISO image of a disk. It combines all the elements of a professional CD recorder, delivered with a convenient user interface that pleases the eye. It is designed without any extraneous features. It restricts the complex process of CD recording to a few mouse clicks, which is ideal for typical users. Now you can produce high quality output on the fly without any deep knowledge of CD recording technologies. Power users will benefit from the opportunity to be in full control of many settings that affect the burning process and the quality of the result.

Where is a help file
I punched make a DVD from avi etc

and when I went to click burn it said to input
a VIDEO_TS file -
so I am all confused.
Tried every way I could see.

On my first use I found it so buggy ...
Tried burning a DVD and forgot to put the blank so it showed an error message, then started counting as if it's actually burning something, it even got to 250% process!!!
Just tried CDBurnerXP and found it very good, also my prior experience with DeepBurner is better.

Moderate functionality but relatively too large for such application.

So it's not all that pretty.
Works just fine and that's what counts.

Who cares what the GUI looks like, it works fine and it's free.

I heard the GUI was ugly, so I tried it. It was indeed ugly. I don't see any compelling reason to switch from my current free burning software. It's just average, but getting better.

You can always tell who actually TRIED the software and who didn't. Those that have tried say "installed on ..." or "I tried this and found..." That is a real beta test... not "I heard it doesn't support (insert item here) so I am not using it, and so I give it a 1 because I don't really know what I am talking about... I just heard it from my friend's sister's boyfriend's uncle and that was good enough for me."
Bottom line is that so far it works good in both XP and Vista for me. The interface could use a sprucing up, but the end result is ultimately what I am after, and that's a clean burn that works.

Children, children-- works fine on Vista, listen to Toolie.

Works as intended. A good FREEware burning tool for the Alternative OSes then Vista. meaning 2000, XP, 2003. It is just as good as Nero for the same thing at zero cost and no trialware limitation that is in Roxio.
Most OEMs seem to come with Nero or Roxio, but this is a great alternative for those that make their own machines and do not own the others options.
The bluray img burn works well for data files. I have not tested it yet for disc copies. But I would assume as long as its properly decrypted it will also work for making BluRay movie copies.

Uhh... Imgburn works just fine in vista. :)
using it right now.
Free is good. UI doesn't look *horrible*, but could definately use some polish.

Btw do you actually know the meaning of the word "eyecandy" ?

quit crying about Vista . And i wanna program that works, not just eyecandy.
-Lord- reviewed v1.20.0.107 on Aug 28, 2007
Ugly, does what other programs already do, and when will someone make something like this that actually works in Vista?
tatool reviewed v1.14.0.87 on Apr 3, 2007
i'm giving 4 because of functionality as freeware, but only 2 for most ugliest gui ever.
ModderXManiac reviewed v1.14.0.87 on Mar 23, 2007
Agreed, very lacking GUI, but still impressive for the features it packs as freeware.
Here's a question, how many people actually BUY Nero? I'm not one of them :D and I think I'll stick with it.
Imgburn does everybit as well as this for iso's.
Stingray57 reviewed v1.14.0.87 on Mar 23, 2007
I am a bit curious. This program, the GUI is lacking, yes it burns CD/DVD, but so does DeepBurner and IMGBURN; all have basic burning functions. Why is this program so large in size?
I personally use Deeepburner portable, but this would be an alternative.
bobad reviewed v1.14.0.87 on Mar 23, 2007
It's a nice little burning program for sure, but sorry, it is NOT an "Alternative to expensive CD and DVD burners". It doesn't even copy disks.
bigmama reviewed v1.14.0.87 on Mar 23, 2007
good. however i think that cdburnerxp is better. (Nero probably the best but you pay)
many of these softwares are not supporting some cd-image formats like bin, nrg, cue etc. also they are for a basic job so cd-copy and dvd burning for movies, ripping etc is not supported or full-supported.
However is one of the best cd-burners and FREE
armpit reviewed v1.14.0.87 on Mar 22, 2007
Still needs a ton of work before deserving the rating it has.
jegHegy reviewed v1.12.0.93 on Feb 20, 2007
Horrible, horrible interface, I'd much rather use ImgBurn for formats that it supports, and find separate apps to burn audio/video discs, although I'm pretty sure those will be implemented soon enough. Thumbs up for providing a free alternative, but the developer seriously needs to find a designer.
dkratter reviewed v1.10.0.73 on Feb 5, 2007
Needs some work, but its decent.
Regarding CDBurnerXP Pro, that application is nearing 2.5 years old with no new version (although the forum moderator keeps promising one). Its the ultimate vaporware. It was a good program several years ago, but has long since fallen behind. Windows Vista wasn't even a beta 2.5 years ago, so I don't imagine CDBurnerXP Pro knows how to handle Vista well.

I like free and like the fact you can create ISO's off the CD.

- very primivite design.
- no cd naming.
- gave some errors on 1st burn.
- 1st cd went to thrash.
thanks.

But...No Settings, No Disc names, etc.
As simply as possible.

Bobbitchin reviewed v1.5.0.36 on Nov 21, 2006
Seems to work ok, pretty spartan looking. Would be nice if the "avaialble space" graph self adjusted to the type of disk inserted. It's pretty usless when you insert a CDR and it shows the capacity of a dual layer Blue Ray DVD. Also the user interface could be a little more intuituve. It took me a few seconds to figure out the "Burn" button. Overall a decent program and it is all that most people really need anyway.
shantanu reviewed v1.5.0.36 on Nov 21, 2006
The "freeware" part is awesome. The UI-flow is very off, had quite a tough time to understand what _exactly_ to do next. Managed to successfully burn a couple of CDs and DVDs, but the UI is just too confusing (different). I will stick with ImgBurn for now.
djnjmjn reviewed v1.5.0.36 on Nov 20, 2006
simple easy use, too basic. froze up during burn.
