Foxit Reader is a small, fast, and feature rich PDF viewer which allows you to open, view, and print any PDF file. Unlike other free PDF readers, Foxit Reader also includes easy to use collaboration features like the ability to add annotations to PDF, fill out PDF forms, and share information with social networks. Foxit Reader has a small footprint that starts up instantly, renders PDF files quickly and uses very little memory, which is especially important with today's mobile devices. The Foxit Reader is packed full of convenient and easy to use viewing, commenting and printing features that make document collaboration simple. Foxit Reader's PDF secure platform insures worry free operation against malicious virus and provides a secure and reliable digital signature verification platform for PDF documents without putting the user at risk from falsified documents.

Foxit Reader: once a lightweight and non-intrusive alternative to Adobe Reader, it now embodies everything that we hate about Adobe! They actually brag about "social network" features. Do these developers not live in the same reality as the rest of us?

I abandoned Foxit a while back but decided to try it again... bad decision. I remember when Foxit first came out and I'm jumped to it to get rid of the giant install print of Adobe Reader. Back when Foxit first came out it was advertised as a much smaller, simpler alternative with a footprint of just over 1 mb. Since then it has ballooned to being almost the same size as Adobe Reader... begging the question: why bother? The unfortunate part of this is that Adobe Reader is almost a required installation on all computers, and 99% of the average novice and intermediate computer users don't use any of the bloated features baked in, except to simply view a PDF.
I suppose if you need plenty features and maybe don't like Adobe Reader it's a nice alternative, but if you want a small, simple reader go with SumatraPDF.

Hilbert brings up some interesting points in his review but personally I don't feel the PDF format was ever designed for the purposes of book reading. I would suggest he convert the books he has in that format to one of the more standard E-book formats. Foxit is a solid replacement for Adobe.
