Yea, If you're on windows don't use 4.3.14. Wait for another release or use 4.3.12.

Ugh... 4.14 has some sort of issue on win7. Look on the virtualbox forums about deleting a registry key to get it work. I ended up reverting back to 4.12. Otherwise this is great free software.

Although it's not easy, I hope USB 3 support with support for guest OS's that only support USB 2 (1?) be addressed soon. (Guest additions).

VMs are very useful for legacy OSs which can be used safely if care is taken. As an example, I have SW that will only run under XP and USB devices with no later OS drivers.

On a desktop, one can add a USB 2 card, many laptops no longer have any USB 2 ports and they can't be added. Some Laptops let you downgrade USB ports to 2 on the BIOS, many do not.

"I still want to know why it's not possible to mount physical harddrives from the GUI?"

If it becomes easy, people can easily destroy the data on their HDDs.

Remember you cannot access (rw) the same data from two different OSes - it will lead to data loss.
