K-Lite Codec Pack is a collection of components needed for audio and video playback in DirectShow players such as Windows Media Player, Media Center, and Media Player Classic. It contains everything you need to play all common audio and video file formats. It also provides additional functionality such a thumbnail generation in Explorer. The pack has a very advanced installer which is highly flexible and has unique problem solving capabilities.

Not only has this always been an awesome program that's never given me a problem watching any Video (I Still keep VLC up to date but it couldn't play anything this failed with) - 5 different software updating programs and none of them caught this update, or it's updated Media Player Classic. - Way to go K-Lite and Betanews!
Reviewing 10.8.8 (Dec 6, 2014)
Have used K-Lite Codec pack for years and only one or two times did it fail at decoding a video because it was encoded in an obscure format.

using it for years, still the best

traumadoc, with my full respect, from Merriam-Webster dictionary:
idiom \i-de-em\ n 1 : the language peculiar to a person or group 2 : the characteristic form or structure of a language 3 : an expression that cannot be understood from the meanings of its separate words (as give way) idiomatic \i-de-e-ma-tik\ adj idiomatically \-ti-k(e-)le\ adv.
Not downloadable from B.N. fileforum, from CodecGuide, nor from other of a dozen sites I visit. Available only by html link from this forum on a forum I never used before and it's not even an installer - only a "download guru" downloader program - not a standalone installer. Plus, the splash screen of the installer doesn't even know how to spell correctly. It's pathetic. I do not, nor should you, trust this installer. 24 hours after the new codec pack version release this update comes and they can't release an actual installer as usual ? or spell English on it's installer (whoever it is that made it that is)...
Anyone else have proof this is going to download an actual, genuine installer of a an update release or is someone screwing around?
Can't spell English - it's hilarious.
It sounds good,I will try
I downloaded it but my media player still says it does not have the right codecs, and when I try to open it something pops up and says there are no updates because it is not installed on my computer. Help?
